  1. Yeah. And the Japanese interpreter.
  2. Henry certainly deserves plenty of blame for the team's performance since the parade in 2018. This year the fall guy was Bloom. And Bush. And rightly so.
  3. Recruiting is so important . If you can't recruit well, you are not going to win. And it certainly helps recruiting if you can play like N.D. did last night.
  4. Let's not make Kike Hernandez the fall guy for this season. It's a team game. And this was a poorly constructed team that could never put it all together.
  5. Best game N.D. has played in a while. So much more aggressive than they were against Louisville. You wouldn't know it was the same team. A good pass rush is vital in football today. Freeman has some learning to do, but he seems a lot more likable than Kelly. The players seem to love him.
  6. It did not bother the Astros. I don't think it bothered the Braves either. The Braves ran into a Phillies team that was very hot, very confident and very good.
  7. I just think a guy hired as head of baseball operations would want the authority to hire whoever he wants as manager. I think that is reasonable. Of course, they can find somebody to take the job regardless. Personally, I don't have a problem keeping Cora as the manager. He has proven that he can win when he has the right players to work with. I don't think too many managers could win with some of the jabronis the Sox have put on the field lately.
  8. I am not a fan of excuses. And I definitely don't want to hear that team A or team B had too many days off and they became flat. They also had time to set up their rotation, rest their bullpen and heal up the little aches and pains. It is what it is. Be prepared. No excuses.
  9. It is not the best situation. You are telling the new boss that he cannot hire his own manager. He has to keep the guy who is already in place. There are surely some candidates for the job that would not care for that.
  10. Maybe John Henry wants to get in on the revenue sharing action.
  11. Absolutely. It sure doesn't make the pitching coaches look very capable .
  12. Getting back to the playoffs; Now down to the final four. I think it is very obvious that there is a significant crapshoot factor in post season baseball. It is becoming very hard to dispute that.
  13. I'm pretty sure a lot of Sox fans will be checking the box scores to see if Ort can improve his control and command with Seattle.
  14. We will certainly find out more next season. The jump from A Ball to AA can be challenging.
  15. Hopefully, the Sox farm director and medical staff has a good handle on how much Mayer's struggles were due to injury and how much they were due to AA pitching. And just how much we should count on him as the future shortstop.
  16. There will always be teams willing to give another shot to a guy who throws as hard as Ort.
  17. Selecting a favorable sample size or time frame to support your position is a timeworn strategy. Most, if not all, have used it .
  18. When a team fails to meet expectations and the fans are getting restless, ownership needs to make a splash to quiet the unrest. Firing people is one way to make that splash. And it is a lot cheaper than spending more money to upgrade the roster.
  19. You could, but regrettably they won't.
  20. There should be a maximum of one wild card in each league. That would solve the waiting around issue. The expanded playoffs are strictly a money grab , just like Amazon Prime, AppleTv+ and Peacock games. The Lords of baseball are among the greediest people on earth.
  21. I don't know for sure if any one particular player would have gotten the Sox to the playoffs. What I do know for certain is that the current team has not done it , finishing last for two straight years.
  22. It seems to me that Red Sox management systematically took apart the championship team from 2018 ( Devers and Sale are all that remain )and replaced them with other acquisitions. Some of them worked out okay, but overall the team was not nearly as good. No doubt there is some story behind each of the moves , just as there is with Eovaldi , but we can only speculate. All we know for sure is that , whatever the plan was , it has not worked out very well so far.
  23. An Orioles loss tonight would make it eleven straight post season losses for the A.L. East. One thing about the A.L. East : They don't have one ( sometimes two ) God awful teams like most other divisions do. They are competitive, top to bottom. But they are clearly not the strongest division at or near the top.
  24. I know Frank Robinson was a great hitter. But he hit right handed. I thought you were comparing Soto to lefties. I guess I misunderstood.
  25. The team needs more " special assistants. " Also known as hangers-on with no real duties.
