  1. Yeah. There is no ideal solution. I agree about trying to optimize the lineup. I am confident that Mookie could do whatever is needed. But at this point, I think he could play center about as well as JBJ , but it may be a stretch to think he can play second as well as Kinsler. And against left hand pitching , Kinsler figures to provide as much offense as JBJ or Benintendi. So , as far as putting Mookie at second, I just don't think the reward is worth the risk. However , I'm okay with whatever Cora decides to do.
  2. If the N.L. doesn't want the DH , so be it. But don't deprive the A.L. team from using theirs. You can be sure that if the A.L. was allowed to use the DH , the N.L. would use one too.
  3. Machado has what is known in pro wrestling as " heel heat." He seems to enjoy the role of villain.
  4. It is a shame the A.L. team can't use the DH in the NL park. There is no ideal solution here. Playing Mookie at second sounds innovative, but it is risky and it really doesn't accomplish a whole lot . My guess is that JBJ and Benintendi will sit alternately, and come in for defense with a lead late. That seems like the simplest and most obvious move.
  5. If Wright can play , he will probably replace Workman or possibly Hembree in the pen. Cora has been reluctant to use them in key situations. Pretty sure that Swihart will remain on the roster. Barring injury, no other changes are likely.
  6. Up until last night , Kimbrel has been shaky , to say the least. However , he now has four saves and zero blown saves in the post season to date. And that , after all , is the whole objective.
  7. It's always good to have memories when the present is disappointing.
  8. Good thing we don't have any of that sort of thing on here.
  9. Verlander is a great pitcher and he seems like a pretty good guy. But I think the baseball Gods decided that he has had more than his fair share of good fortune in life.
  10. Baseball is the only major sport that does not have a uniform playing field. You have all kinds of different dimensions. Sometimes you live with it , sometimes you die with it. We all hate it when the opponent hits a " cheapo."
  11. The Red Sox are the best team. The Yankees and Astros are very good, but the Sox are better. That's the facts , Jack.
  12. I think the Brewers would definitely be easier to beat. The Dodgers are the big market , big money team with some big time talent with star power. But the Red Sox are a special group and they are rolling. The Sox will win , but it would be tougher against the Dodgers.
  13. Hail to the Boston Red Sox , 2018 American League Champions. A great team with a terrific manager , a generous owner and an outstanding G.M. You could pretty much see this coming from opening day. Also , a special shout out to the die-hard fans who wanted to unload JBJ for a bag of balls , who wanted to ship Devers to Pawtucket for more seasoning , who wanted to run David Price out of town on a rail , and who ,most recently , turned on Craig Kimbrel, one of the best , most reliable closers in recent years. Hang in there guys. Try to support your team in the upcoming World Series.
  14. 98 mph gas after 38 pitches and two innings the night before.
  15. And all of the passed balls and wild pitches. Could be a fear of sign stealing causing frequent changes in the signs , resulting in mistakes and cross ups. Just a guess on that. To be fair , despite the mistakes , there have been some great plays made by both teams as well.
  16. The Astros are not playing like champs. They look shell shocked , nervous and tight. Kemp trying to take second on Mookie , three runs down , is one of the all time post season bone head plays. How about Correa blowing a double play by missing second base. Not to mention White , the pinch hitter who stood there like a statue with the bat on his shoulder .
  17. Empty jelly jars can serve the same purpose. But they look kind of tacky when guests come over. Sometimes you have to break down and spend a buck.
  18. Sox offense is rolling now. No reason they can't score off of Verlander. Houston is feeling the pressure and making blunders. Look for Boston to end it tonight. It amazes me how people keep underestimating this team. They have been the best all year and they are the best now. They will find a way to win.
  19. Notin looks at the glass and asks ," How much did we pay for this goblet ?" " We should be able to find a cheaper one that holds just as much water ."
  20. Notin , " One bit of solace " ? Gee whiz. The Sox are 6-2 , 4-0 on the road against the best competition around. Let the Yankee and Astro fans seek the solace.
  21. Thanks. It just tickles me how folks can always focus on the negative while things are going so well.
  22. I am sure Price is hoping for your forgiveness.
  23. Parcells is more known for the quote , " We are what our record says we are." Think about it.
  24. I guess we will see. Meanwhile, I will support all 25 players. And the manager.
  25. He will get more chances . He certainly has a history of being very capable. How many saves this year ? I hope the players stick together as a team and don't think of it as " bailing anyone out." That is not a good way to look at it.
