  1. Just to be fair: Gallo leads the league in strikeouts. But also leads the league in walks . He has 38 home runs , 13 since joining the Yankees at the deadline. He is a good outfielder with a great arm. So , it's not all negative by any means.
  2. E Rod is okay , but really not anything special . A career 4.00 ERA type. And he sometimes appears to be a little out of shape . A qualifying offer is a lot of money . I'd think twice about that.
  3. I think Cora is doing an excellent job of managing the bullpen. He is using them in spots where they can succeed . Mixing , matching and getting the most out of them. Seems to have both the starters and relievers on short leashes. And it's working.
  4. I don't fault any player for leaving Boston for more money elsewhere. Why shouldn't they ?
  5. I think it was just a general disgust and anger about the way the team has played. Cole was just a convenient target at that moment. But is was not just about him.
  6. I wouldn't say it is all over just yet , but a rather large female opera singer was observed warming up her vocal chords somewhere in The Bronx , N.Y.
  7. Would any of us like it if the Yankees had the soft schedule in the home stretch ? I don't think so.
  8. There are always what-ifs and maybes. Fact is , we are not one or two down right now.
  9. I much prefer to have the easy games down the stretch run.
  10. The Sox soft finishing schedule is truly a gift from MLB. There is no other way to put it. It would be very difficult not to win a wild card berth at this point.
  11. The pitchers that Baltimore is running out there are truly an embarrassment to the sport. It is really not even any fun watching them get pummeled .
  12. Get rid of the stupid rules like the ghost runner in extra innings. Give the home plate umpire the authority and incentive to keep the game moving at a good pace. Put a stop to tanking and fire sales at the deadline. Promote the players way more than is being done at present. They are the game. And one more little thing that bugs me : No cheat notes in the pocket or the cap. Do your homework before you take the field.
  13. Going 4-2 against the Orioles would be a disappointment . I expect to win all six games. The schedule clearly favors the Sox over the Jays and Yankees. The wild card , and even home field , is there for the taking.
  14. Personally , I always feel a little more confident when Eovaldi is starting.
  15. The Sox just don't play like a championship caliber team. Too much sloppy , careless , error prone baseball. The wild card spots are up for grabs. Having six games left with the woeful Orioles could be what saves their post season hopes.
  16. A little melodramatic.
  17. That is true. The forum is about ideas and opinions. I don't know why some folks always feel like they are entitled to having their questions answered. This is not a courtroom.
  18. Big game for the Yankees today. If they can't beat up their favorite whipping boys , they are in big trouble.
  19. The wonderful thing about the millions of stats that are now at our fingertips is that we can always find a stat or a certain time frame that helps to make our case. And vice versa.
  20. They say that a baseball season is a marathon , not a sprint. But at this point , it really is just a sprint to the finish line.
  21. Seattle blew a golden opportunity by losing a series to the 96 loss Diamondbacks.
  22. Stretch run baseball. Tough , hard fought games. Two good teams. Three games that could have gone either way. On to Seattle.
  23. Brewers with another combined no hitter last night. Burnes went eight no hit innings and was removed for Hader to close it. You never used to see a guy pitching a no hitter taken out after eight innings . Burnes seemed perfectly okay with it.
  24. I don't think the A's or the Mariners are quite as good as the three East teams. Of those three , the Yanks look the shakiest. The Jays look the strongest , but definitely have the toughest schedule. That could derail them. I still think the Sox have the clearest path to the wild card. And as we all know , from there anything can happen.
  25. If I caught Covid from Chaim Bloom , and Aaron Boone cured me , it still would not persuade me to be a Yankee fan.
