  1. Funny thing about this whole mess is we Trade Jalen Beeks for Eovaldi, and he's doing a nice job. We Trade Ty Buttrey, for Kinsler, and he's doing a nice job for the Angels. Maybe best thing is DD better go for a Starter. His track record for Relievers are killing the Sox. Whoever we Trade, is almost certainly going to have a nice season or seasons for his next team.
  2. Had arm problems early in his career in Cleveland. When he was with us he had a tired arm, followed him to Chicago. If he was hitting 88, it was amazing as a Starter. He was done as a Starter. He was throwing much harder for Oakland, much. LaRussa saved his career.
  3. Funny thing about Eck, when he was Traded to the Cubs, his fastball velocity was down, very easy starter to hit against. When the A's put him in the Closers role, he was throwing as hard and probably harder, then when he was starting here. All he needed to do was let it go for 1 inning. Had no problem going there everyday and Closing too, seemed like he got stronger, throwing more in the BP. Had the Starters strength. 1 year he threw 80 innings, had 11 walks, and 6 of those were intentional. Had 51 saves. He was 37 years old.
  4. I have not read SoxProspects in years. If that what you like no problem with me, I like Perfect Game more when it comes to Minor League evaluations. https://www.milb.com/greenville/news/three-drive-players-tabbed-for-south-atlantic-league-all-star-game/c-307719030 This was High School evaluation. https://www.perfectgame.org/Players/Playerprofile.aspx?ID=338792
  5. I wonder if LaRussa had something to do with Eovaldi moving to a closer's role. He did it with Eckersley, or at least it started that way, to move him to BP. Wonder if he see similarities there.
  6. Its too bad too. I know if I was back in my younger days and my buddy was pitching to me a wiffle ball, I would have his stance down to a tee. Be a great role model for younger kids, that love the game.
  7. Not 2 or 3 weeks behind anymore. Maybe April-OK Team 4.66 ERA 12-14 W-L May team had a 3.82 ERA 16-11 W-L June, half a season gone - 4.73 ERA 15-12 W-L July- Holy crap still early of course but its 5.43 5-1 W-L Spring training was a long time ago. Not buying new regime anymore on Spring Training in July.
  8. Tons of kids to keep an eye on, Thad Ward in Salem is having a heck of a season, hope it continues. Last 10 games 57 innings, 39 hits, 68 K's, 5 ER's. A 0.78 era.
  9. If MLB is juicing the balls, I have no problem with Players juicing themselves. Just helping the game. These balls are juiced, I've seen guys hit balls to Right Center, who never had this kind of Power before, throughout their careers. Now we can get Bonds and Clemens into the HOF too. Where they belong.
  10. I worry about Stroman and Giles, especially if Giles has really found himself again. That makes your BP even stronger, for a guy like Stroman and your staff. Seems like 6 innings is what you get nowadays, you absolutely need a long and strong BP.
  11. Sounds to me like the Yanks are going cheap, if Ray is their focus. * Didn't know he was that young. Walking a lot of batters this year, that is not his norm. Last year pretty high too.
  12. Many games played on Regular schedule aren't real games. KC vs. Detroit should be televised nationally on a Sunday night. People will get some sleep for Monday morning work.
  13. Here's something to think about, and it has been in my mind lately. https://www.thespec.com/sports-story/9493429-as-home-runs-fly-major-league-baseball-s-doping-question-is-back/
  14. Baseball was the last sport where the All-Star game meant something. Even if it was between players, it pussed out too, just like every All-Star, or All-Pro Game in sports. Everybody does not want to get hurt. Pride in all these athletes are gone. Never in my 67 years of life that Owners was the difference, in a Baseball All-Star game. Back in 67 there was thing called Jets, I know I was in another country 2 years later. Age should never make a difference if you love the sport. Still excited about the All-Star game, always was.
  15. Growing up, the All-Star Game was a great game to watch. It was a hard fought game, that each League wanted to show which League was better. Some real intense All-Star Games were played. They didn't care about injuries either. They played hard, and extra inning games were unreal. It was game that you could not wait to watch. Players and Fans have changed. Here's an old box score from 1967 All-Star game. Never see this again with these players. https://www.baseball-reference.com/allstar/1967-allstar-game.shtml
  16. Anybody watching this HR derby?
  17. Angels have the toughest, followed by the Texas, then the A's, then the Sox.
  18. This is not good, especially if Giles has finally found himself again.
  19. Listening about Bumgarner, one of the reasons he has a No-Trade clause is so he can negotiate with that team on a extension. He's not against coming to Boston, just as long as you pay for him.
  20. Not sure what you mean. It is what it is, is my thinking.
  21. Wheeler is a FA after this season. I bet he would love to pitch for a contender, so he could get some exposure. He's owed 1.9+ rest of year.
  22. Wonder if this shows up.
  23. True DC. I like my kids names anyway.
  24. Sox have the 4th most difficult strength of remaining schedule, of the Contenders. Overall .505 Home 3rd toughest .498 Winning % of Opponents. Road, 3rd toughest .513 Winning % of Opponents. Yanks 6th overall toughest .484 winning % overall. Rays 9th overall toughest .461 winning % overall.
  25. According to Joel Sherman, Sox in early talks on Zach Wheeler. Watched the Mets games, he's starting to get it back, throws now at 94-95.
