  1. That was not meant for you.......no doubt you're one of the biggest Sox fans......juggling can look amazing, we have several balls in the air and I curiously wait how many get dropped....
  2. Well that spending includes $16M for Price, $24M for Sale and $13M for Pedey. Bloom played no part in that. That's $53M not playing. Essentially our payroll is about $150M..... People here need to change out of their panties...We have 4 world series rings in less than 20 years, and next one will be our 5th. Go cheer for someone else......
  3. Uehara was big surprise....
  4. For younger players, this is why you may want to let the team buy out couple of years of free agency. Dustin collected close to $40M sitting at home the last three years. You think you're invincible, but life can throw you a major league curveball at any time.
  5. Mitch would have a pulled hamstring first time he THOUGHT about getting a good jump....as President would say, C'mon, Bloom.
  6. Lets' look at it in total context.... With pandemic and shortened sixty game season, I really had no problem Sox having one of worst season in memory. We had no shot at the world series or getting into the playoffs. Bright side was that we were rewarded with a fourth pick in each round (I'm guessing on rounds 2 and below). I really don't see any problem going over the limit and resetting our 'budget' as $228M. The penalty is measly $4M. I'm impressed with Bloom always garnering additional players, younger players in each trade he makes. Our farm system is getting restocked and I believe that will continue. As long as there are no long term deals, I'm really good with it. Sooooo, according to Cot's, we still have $28M to spend (plus $4M in penalty). Spend away....just no 5 year, $100M deals or bigger. (exceptions can be made by this board)
  7. Ottavino (via trade) and Renfro are only one year deals I see. Others have club options attached. It's possible Bloom is monitoring our younger players to see if there are developments this year leading to 2022 promotion.
  8. I was half kidding. For some reason Jacksonianmarch wanted to make a point about something. It went over my head.....
  9. Not sure why the Sox would be laughing stock.....
  10. Contracts coming up E Rod after 2021 Richards possibly being let go after 2021 Eovaldi after 2022 Sign him up....
  11. My only question is who was the idiot that left a reliever on the mound without recording an out while giving up 6 earned runs? I would love to see Aaron Judge throw sidearm.
  12. We're not signing JBJ....his agent's pride is at stake....
  13. I think that may be very reasonable....especially not knowing how expensive E Rod extension will cost....we also potentially have a one year deal for Richards. I just didn't want to get to 5 year $100M. I just don't want to pay out $36M per year as the Yankees did for Cole, not to mention $26M for Stanton. They also have some expensive youngsters coming up. Yankees also have set a high bar for themselves. Nothing short of World Championship matters. Sox needs to pick a future major leaguer with their 4th pick! Lets not do another Trey Ball.
  14. I'm good with signiing Odorizzi with the thought that E Rod will not return next year. But it still has to be reasonable. It can't be a long term deal with tons of $$$$.
  15. Yep....
  16. He was hired October 2019. Today is January 2021. At most he's been on the job for 14 months. He had to clean up the mess first. You must admit 2020 was unlike any other year. Isn't he doing what he's always done? Make the team inch forward each day. He's rebuilding the farm system and on paper we're much better team. He's not made any move to hamstring us. No albatross contracts given out yet much upside to them.
  17. I didn't think of it but if we're out of contention, Ottavino can be flipped to a playoff contender for additional prospects later in the year.
  18. I thought Eovaldi extension was justified. Contracts for both Sale and Porcello were coming due. Our 2019 SP rotation looked solid on paper. Sale, Porcello, E Rod, Eovaldi and Price. It's all behind us now. Look to the future. I really like this Bloom guy.
  19. I'm just comfortable with one year deals...if all goes to hell, Richards won't be back in 22 and neither will Ottavino regardless.....same goes for Perez...
  20. Player to be named later or cash..... What's a big deal....it's only money. We kept our farm system in tact. We also received Frank German, Yankees' #24 prospect. The guy had a stellar 2019. I think we got better. That's what it's about right? It's only a one year deal. Perfect. We got a starter, reliever and versatile 2B. Nothing given up right? I would trade Beni and sign Priller (?). I would give him away for $6M.
  21. Bloom has never said he signed Richards for $10M to close. Posters make some comments about long shot possibility of Richards becoming a closer at some point and then we blame Bloom for spending $10M for a closer?
  22. And 2 days later we have a second baseman and another starting pitcher......we should wait until 4/1 to bitch...(not at you...)
  23. Cot's baseball now has posted Richard' contract in the mix.... Sox's competitive balance payroll now stands at $195.5M. We have little over $14M.....who can we buy?
  24. Good point....he still has all three options.
