  1. We gave this guy 2 year $14M deal...he can't even make a contact with runners on 2nd and 3rd, one out.
  2. At some point, Santana's .114 BA has to be a concern. Let's give him 5 at bats and see we can get him going.
  3. I'm officially resigning from Dalbec fan club board. It's really embarrassing to watch him swing.
  4. He has great speed according to Cora.
  5. My bad...I did not read that....
  6. Kiké Hernández is not leading off in a game he’s starting for the first time this season. He had batted first in all 39 starts before Saturday. Cora has moved Hernández to the seventh spot. Santana will bat first. Hernández did not play Thursday and Friday. He took some time to work on his swing with hitting coaches Tim Hyers and Peter Fatse. He is batting only .228 with a .284 on-base percentage and .383 slugging percentage. Cora can be very stubborn. I wonder if he ever considered maybe Kike is uncomfortable leading off. Wouldn't it be great if Kike can kick ass hitting 7th in the lineup? If the batter order doesn't matter, why insist on batting the guy first?
  7. I was just summarizing some of the posts.....you only mentioned my idea of trading E Rod when Sale returns was little far fetched....you're probably correct. You do know that my hair brain idea is to bring in a $30M Ace instead of signing E Rod, despite saying that's not in Bloom's DNA. I want Bloom to continue what he's doing. But if we have chance to go for it, I'd say go. As long as we're not trading away our young talent, I guess I don't really care how much money they spend. I don't feel this is the year to GO. Our pitching is very above average but I don't see a stud.
  8. Nope not really. So this is what I hear all of you will do. Sign Barnes to 3/4 years at almost $20M adding delta of $14M for possibly next 4 years. Sox will sign E Rod to 5 year $100M deal. And call it a 'steal'. Xander if he opts out after 2022 while making $20M will be extended for 6 years at $150M. Delta is only $5M. Hoping to get a home town discount, Devers will be signed to 6 year, $150M deal this winter. Verdugo in two years will require sizable raise. My hypothetical has chance of happening.
  9. One thing Bloom does well is not to get attached to a player. There's always someone else. Suppose Sale comes back and he's back to pretty much his old self and say E Rod is still no better than Richards, Eovaldi, Privetta and Martin. Sox at the point has no upside with E Rod. Why not trade E Rod and get something in return? Even with E Rod out, other five will return in 2022 and Houck and Whitlock can add depth along with Seabold. That's what Bloom does. From where I sit, he'll do a bang up job with developing organizational pitching depth. He's doing it right now.
  10. I just don't see Bloom signing a reliever, no matter how good, to a 3-4 year deal for $19M per year. I just don't. He'll find a solution another way.
  11. You first need to see what happens this winter based on how the teams are recovering from shortened 2020 season and limited fan capacity early in the years. Yankees, who probably needs the least money, just bumped the capacity to 50%. Xander, as a shortstop will be 18 months older, or 30. Wildcard in all of this Bloom's tolerance for higher, longer term deals. Devers maybe a high priority than Xander. You can't have bunch of $30M players on the same team. I thought that's how we got into trouble.
  12. $30M, 3 years maybe low, but I think 3/60 is too high. I'll take that bet.
  13. I also don't see Xander opting out. Counting the opt year, 2026, he'll be leaving $80M, 4years on the table. How much more can he get? Xander was signed as a 16 year old by the Sox. He's team captain. I just have the feeling he's a Sox lifer.
  14. I doubt it. I'll bet $100 on that!!!!
  15. Not According to Cot's Baseball 5 years/$110M (2018-22) signed by Boston as a free agent 2/26/18 18:$23.75M, 19:$23.75M, 20:$23.75M, 21:$19.375M, 22:$19.375M may opt out of contract after both 2019 ($2.5M buyout) and 2020 seasons (no buyout) He's pretty much a DH and not sure if he'll get much more than that in open market. Possible get a longer term deal, if and only if he can opt out.
  16. Renfroe, Verdugo and Duran are all better athletes than Beni. I would not put Beni in my 'core' group for the future.
  17. Great outing by Sawamura. He has great stuff. Assume all the club options are exercised for next year and start at current year tax payroll of $205M. 2021 Free Agents $8.9 Ottavino $8.3 E Rod $4.5 Barnes $3.0 Marwin $1.0 Workman $14.8 Pedey, Beni, Ottavino-Net $40.5 off the books $205M less $40M=$165M Assuming the top line of $210M for 2022, Sox will have $45M to spend. Assuming Sale comes back healthy, how would you spend that $45M? Ignore the arbitration raises, Sox will go over the limit to take care of it, $20M, depends largely on the raises we'll need for Devers, Verdugo and other arbitration guys. I maybe inclined to spend on a big time ace and Barnes, with 'go for it' mentally for 2022. $45M should take care of it. It may also be enough to acquire $1M-$2M bit players. That leaves us having to replace Ottavino internally. I doubt Bloom would do that....I can only dream. 2022 World Series chase with Verlander, Sale, Eovaldi and Richards. You still have Pivetta and Perez. Barnes, Darwinzon, Houck and others dealing from the pen. I would do this knowing Price money comes off and Eovaldi and Richards will become free agents after 2022, releasing $43M of spending. Re-sign Richards and replace Eovaldi internally.
  18. Soooo, he didn't go 5-5 against a Canadian pitcher? He sucks!!! Just kidding. Thanks for the update. It has to be great experience for both.
  19. Will 3 year, $30M be enough to sign Barnes, assuming he finishes the year the way he started?
  20. Pretty Impressive Pop Up....
  21. Please don't sit down Marwin tomorrow......how many times have we said that?
  22. Blue Jays losing 13-1, Rays losing 5-0....productive day.
  23. Yanks offense looking like Sox vs Houston first 3 games...
  24. Santana down to .129 BA.....When I was in 5th grade, my class had gift exchange for Xmas...someone gave me already put together model airplane.... Anticipation definitely was better than the reality..
