  1. Any chance Cora has something up his sleeve for the Astros that he saved for the postseason? He should know their players pretty well.
  2. My kids you mean Lance Lynn, JA Happ and CC Sabathia?
  3. Has anyone seen an explanation from ERod on that play in game 2? To me it looked like he was going for the ball and by the time he realized Moreland wasn't going to cover 1st it was too late for him to change direction and get there. I could be wrong, but I blame Mitch more than ERod.
  4. That is my only problem with the lineup. I don't like the first game all year Porcello pitches to Vasquez is game 4 vs NYY
  5. It doesn't look very even to me. They are close in a lot of stats, but Betts clearly gets the nod, regardless of the standings.
  6. I personally prefer Devers offensively. He has shown that he can hit good pitching, and more importantly he doesn't GIDP nearly as much as Nunez.
  7. I'm not sure about reaching his potential, but he's pitched about as well as any 3rd starter in the AL.
  8. Porcello's bases clearing double was pretty great. Another play that wasn't as big but I liked for the cool factor and baseball-IQ, was Bogie's play during a rundown where he stayed on the bag to tag the guy coming from 2nd then got the guy going home for a double play. Can't remember when or against who.
  9. No need to see Pom the rest of the year now. There's plenty of pitchers who legitimately deserve a shot at the postseason
  10. I'd take Velasquez over Pom, Workman or Thornburg over Hembree. Of course September results for Vasquez, Wright and half the bullpen could change this
  11. That seems unlikely
  12. Cora's pep talk should be, 'Better score now, I'm bringing in Pomeranz'
  13. I'm not able to watch the game right now. Did Hembree really throw that guy a first pitch fastball right down the middle with the bases loaded?
  14. I don't think you can use percentages like this. Would you say a 0.1 WAR player is 100% better than a 0.0 WAR player?
  15. I'm not saying he's not insanely good, but the 28 rbi's with 2 out and RISP are included in the 66 with RISP
  16. To me it's not so much about having to move JBJ as it is about considering him a viable trade chip. I hope I'm wrong as I want him on the team for ten years, but I don't think the front office values him as much as many of us do.
  17. The main thing this tells me is BJ should not be in the bullpen for the playoffs
  18. That's weird. My best guess is that WAR factors in the average/typical performance of all players (hence the 'above replacement' part).
  19. How many threads need to have this robo-ump discussion? How is that related to WAR being a dumb stat?
  20. It's hard to say which sox player is more valuable. I do think if he wins the triple crown or gets 50 HR, he has an excellent chance of getting the award.
  21. Personally I don't hold it against someone that his team chose to use him as a DH, especially when he is capable of playing the field. On the other hand, he doesn't get any credit for being a plus defender like both Mookie and Trout.
  22. part of me hopes that means he's sitting alone in the bullpen at Fenway while the sox are in Toronto and Baltimore
  23. Lately there were a few that it looked like the sox might lose until Sandy came up with a key late inning hit.
  24. Well, I think Kinsler's happened rounding third on a base hit, but if they can't run hard without pulling a hammy, that means they need better stretching/conditioning, not they shouldn't steal bases.
