The problem with fans having the right to be outraged is then the behavior standards become subjective. I prefer some perspective. In an era where I can find dozens of media stories about athletes committing acts of domestic violence, sexual assault, driving under the influence, and illegal possession of a firearm, the time to cry about morality isn't because some overpaid athlete got into a dispute with the press. I can see getting outraged over law breakers. But getting outraged over immaturity? And this issue will never become more severe regardless of how articles cover it.... -

Boston sportswriters do almost nothing but keep these types of non-events alive wee beyond any relevance they might have had at ond point. I don't know the facts for this and I don't need to. I would be very surprised if this was the first time something like this happened in Boston or if the Sox were the only team with such an incident this month. But I do know the Boston sportswriters will drive all this home with greater fervor the the "Great Chicken and Beer Fiasco".... -
Like the Sox, the Guardians have also not been living up to expectations. Outside of the Astros, the AL doesn't have much that you KNOW is even going to be in the post-season. ...

The promotion of Devers could change the Sox timeline. They could try him for 5 weeks and then re-visit the third base market at the end of August when more teams are out of it. While it might be tough to get a Moustakas or Beltre through waivers, other names might be available. ...

Well, he's not at fault for the team not winning, unless you fault him for the repeated collapses of his historically weak bullpens. But the weak farm system and the horrific contracts he gave to players like Cabrera and Verlander, could cripple that franchise for years, especially if the team continues to play poorly, which will likely negatively impact attendance and in turn, earnings. This means their spending will be capped by the debt-equity ratio of the CBA. So he left a team with no farm system and likely handicapped their ability to pay for free agents. Not a good spot...

The contract thr Yankees gave Miller that year was considered to be a pretty crazy one at the time for a non-closing reliever. Most teams, including the Sox, were not ready to pay $32mill over 4 years for a set up guy.

Hopefully Nick was kidding. Otherwise that suggestion is just like George Constanza when he worked for the Yankees. "I figured out how we can get Bonds and Griffey!! And we wouldn't have to give up that much! !!" The more I think about it, the Alonso/Devers solution is the best solution so far....

Leon and Vazquez are both good defensive catchers, but I give the edge to Vazquez. I really don't care if either hit. Someone has to bat ninth. Upgrade the top eight somewhere. Specifically 1b...

So this proposal is the Sox trade former Giant prospect Heath Hembree, who is the rough equivalent of Giants RHRP and former Sox prospect Hunter Strickland, for Giants prospect Chris Shaw to replace Sam Travis, which wouldn't be necessary if the Sox had just kept Travis Shaw? I'm not confused...

Like I said, I get not wanting to pay for Harrison. But the Flores/Nunez/Rivera trio is barely an upgrade over Holt and Marrero, if not a step down. Harrison is light years better thsn any of them. I like Moustakas, too, but at least Harrison is controlled beyond this season.
