If this stalemate with Martinez continues, the Sox could and should grab Morrison (or Duda, if Morrison is unavailable), which makes Hanley's vesting option less likely to vest. So that $22million, plus the $25million not spent on Martinez (minus the cost of Morrison/Duda) could be put towards Machado or Harper.
