  1. Remember how we were all wowed by this guy in his first (or end) spring training games? I've even forgotten the year, Dewey. . I namaged to get one more ST game in after meetung you guys, I think!
  2. Wow! Exactly what I was looking for!
  3. I wonder if someone with better eye sight than minee, could compile the overall and indivual game losses this season and tell us Mookie's BA, As I say, overall, and each individual game. It probably wasn't 5 for 40, but not much different. No matter who steps up and has good games, it all boils down to, "How;d Mookie Do?"
  4. So, how long does this guy last? I thinl the sooner the better! But good news! I'e been wrong before!
  5. JBJ out. Cora makes another tough call. But the right one!
  6. Price's velocity not only dropped when he changed his delivery, so did hid deceptions. Here's a link (if it works) showing different position of Lefty Grove. https://images.search.yahoo.com/search/images?p=lefty+grove%2C+pictures&fr=tightropetb&imgurl=http%3A%2F%2Fsports.mearsonlineauctions.com%2FItemImages%2F000064%2F64688a_lg.jpeg#id=43&iurl=https%3A%2F%2Fusatftw.files.wordpress.com%2F2015%2F04%2Fswp07_historygrove_18_36056893.jpg%3Fw%3D1000%26h%3D768&action=click Can you imagine Lefty chamging what worked because he walked two or three guys per game? Feller, Johnson, etc did not piech from a strtech unless they absolutely had to! Get back where you were David, !
  7. His biggest (toughest) decision yet: JBJ
  8. Kis biggest problem has yeet to e resolved. A tough one, that he will tackle very soon. JBJ. I've tried to think of a championship team that had a .150 hitter pplaying CF.Soon, Morlemad goes to 1st, Martinez to LF, Ramiriz to DH.
  9. As this season got under way in late March, I posted that the WS winner would be either the Red Sox or the Yankees. Division winners, etc, was just conversation. I can't remember a season so lop-sided in talent as this one.
  10. When I make the "could-ne" comparisons, I'm trying to think "slider" Williams and Foxx saw as many ast balls as will Betts and Devers. However they never had to put up with the slider. Even Williams once commented re/the slider) that he was just getting out in time!. I often wonder how Ted and Jimmy got along! Two personalities as far apart as possible given there love for baseball!
  11. By this time in 2020 wew'll be talking combos. Devers is about where Mookie was 2 years ago, as far as offense is concerned. Bettes-Devers vs Foxx-Williams? Ruth-Gehrig? Who knoes!!!
  12. Yes, exactly. Andin a very short time
  13. Which is exactly what Cora has done. He has taken a wierd mixture of talented ball players and made them into a team. He is far more trusted than any of the other good managers the Sox have had. Everyone in baseball-land watched Betts take strike one every AB thinking 'get on base' His average dropped 50 points over night and Farrell nor any of his so-called coaches said boo. He has stuck with JBJ when a lot of people (including me) wanted him benched or traded==whatever. He has givne honest advice (and encouagement to Devers that has helped the kid keep his confidence when he heads for 3rd base. He has obviouslygiven this kid the green light when others wanted him "shorten that stroke". Alex Cora doesn;'t know baseball. He knows people.
  14. Yes. At least in my memory. And I go back to Joe Cronin
  15. What has been obvious in this player evaluation process is that Alex C Has a far better idea of who can play and who can't. Lin & Swihart have caught his eye, and Holt has cone nothing since returning to keep him even in the conversation. I will root for Pedy to return to at least a fraction of his former self, but not with much coniction.
  16. I would love to see Pedroia come back as the Pedroia of 2016 or 2017. But I'm not optimistice. I have no doubts about his getting in the lineup when he's healthy. It's what he can or can't do anymore that Iam concerned about. Cora is not going to go along for ever if Pedroia is hittin ,220 after a month or so. I believe he is very close to being done.
  17. Neither Holt or Pedroia are likely to fit with this new team. I don't see either one gettin much playing. Nunex, Linn, Devers, Bogaerts. Two of the first three of that bunch is more than enough. Who is going to sit down with Pedroia and talk about the realities of baseball. Pedroia would never go for the aggressive baseball the Sox are playing. And winning with. He has slowed in the field as well as at the plate. What would you do? Play hi, anyway? Send Linn back to the minors? Trafe Nunez? Fat chance!
  18. MOST (if not all) of the credit has to go to Cora!
  19. I don't know Mookie's exact % on taking strike one, but it was a high number! Very high!!
  20. I give the Sox credit for going this gar wuth Holt when it was onvious he was fone. I'm sure the whole dugout knew it was just a matter of time before Lin took over. Can't forget Holts real value for the previous 3 or 4 uears.
  21. The question of the day has become the question of the week: When doed Lin replace Holt?
  22. How long before Lin replaces Holt? One more game? Two?
  23. -I guess the ever-worsening manro degeneration I have has resulted in my paying more attention to the anouncers. These ESPN clowns are the worst I have ever seen/heard. Anybody notice? Half the time these guys with diarrhia of the mouth DON'T EVEN TELL YOU WHO THE HELL IS AT BAT!. They are more interested in trying to ell us how much they know about basebal. Theythen forfet totell us what the f--k is happening on the field!
  24. Looks like the Sox left their offense over at Fenway South.
  25. The numbers make good conversation, but the bottom line is that the Red Sox and the Yankees are two powerhouses, and the races (East and Overall) will be decided by the 4th of July. S, who goes to the WS, the Red Sox or the Yankees. I say the Red Sox.
