  1. I totally agree, and from day one thought the trade was sketchy, if there was no extension.
  2. I don't disagree, but fWAR says Rafaela is not our weak point. 1.1 Abreu 0.7 Campbell 0.3 Rafaela, Bregman, Story (before today) 0.2 Devers & Narvaez -0.2 Duran -0.5 Casas If we call up Anthony, he should play FT. We could platoon Rafaela & Abreu and play Rafaela at SS and 2B a few games, so he does not need to be totally phased out, but what about Refsnyder? I'm wonder if we have considered trading Ref or Raf.
  3. Nice win. 14 Ks and 1 BB by the staff. Story is now telling thrillers not bedtime stories. Not a good game by the O, again, but enough for the win.
  4. Agreed. The good thing about Rafaela is that he is still a plus on WAR, due to great D in CF. If he keeps struggling, no team in MLB has a better OF prospect who is ML ready. We may end up seeing: LF Anthony CF Duran RF Abreu-Refsnyder Rafaela can be the 4th OF'er, defensive replacement OF'er and back up middle IF'er. We can demote DHam for Anthony and have Rafaela take over his sub role.
  5. He did shake it up, and he actually did my suggestion: bat Abreu 4th v RHPs. He moves Casas down to 6th (not even 5th) and kept Story up 5th, and it worked.
  6. Yes. He was the right guy. It was the right choice. Not all right choices work out.
  7. Woo came back to win 8-5. Dobbins did not do well. Hendriks walked one, but pitched a scoreless inning, again. 2 hits each by Anthony, Grissom, Thompson & Eaton. Sogard 1-2 w 2 BB. Grissom & Eaton had a BB, too. Sikes got the big hit. Both POR games rained out. GRE lost 8-2. Paez went 3 (3H, 2ER, 0BB, 3K) YRod 2-4 w BB SAL down 5-4 in the 8th. Arias is hitless for the first time, this year, but has a BB . He is up now, leading off the top of the 9th.
  8. I think brining in Whitlock is the right call. Fingers crossed. We need this win!
  9. I agree. Maybe start a tradition where the first poster who posts on the game thread gets credit for the W or L.
  10. He's got a hit in every game, this year, but he is 0-3 w a BB, today. He will get one more AB in the 8th or 9th. His OPS is over 1.000, now! GRE soon?
  11. Word of Story's demise may have been greatly exaggerated.
  12. On paper, I did not see a single position that got worse on D from 2024 to 2025: Catcher: Wong=Wong and Narvaez> McGuire 1B: Casas=Casas 2B: Campbell (DHam/Romy)> Evaldez, Reyes, Grissom SS: Story>> Rafaela, DHam, others 3B: Bragman >>Devers LF: Duran FT> Duran, O'Neal & Ref CF: Rafaela> Duran & Rafaela RF: Abreu & O'Neal/Refsnyder= Abreu & Refsnyder Just goes to show you how "on paper" does not always equate to on the field.
  13. Are we turning the corner? Just 2 Ks in 15 outs. Look how this has led to much more run scoring.... NOT!
  14. Soliciting funds for those in need is "fleecing?" Wow! Where is the link to "begging" JH, not that begging for charity for others is a vice. I'm fine with losing respect over cheating, but then why are you a Sox fan? We've been caught cheating several times- from players, coaches, managers to the GMs.
  15. That is a major shift, and when you figure in that all teams seem to be K'ing more and more, our increase has been astounding. What's worse is that our HR totals, BA, OBP and SLG are not improving by swinging more or harder. 2021>2022>2023.2024>2025 BA: .261>.258>.258>.252>.250 OBP: .328>.321>.324. >319> .330 SLG: .449>.409>.424>.423>.375 ISO: .188>.152>.166>,171>,124 It's not working- whatever we are doing. I'm not so sure we can blame "roster construction," since most of the decline is attributed to players that were on the roster in the past 2-5 years- not the newbies like Bregman, Campbell, Narvaez and Romy, Abreu and Casas, who were not playing at all or that much in 2021 and 2022 and some in 2023. For this, I can see why people want to blame the coaches and manager.
  16. I'm not doubting the trend that the whole league seems to be following. Is there any team not seeing their K rate go up over the past 2-4 years? It does worry me. I miss the days of working counts, high OBPs and getting to the opp's pen by the 4th inning.
