  1. They don't need me to give them nightmares, although our OF defense is dreamy.
  2. I hope Devers can make up for the erratic arm by having better range than most 3Bman, but it's hard to overcome 40+ errors (the pace he was on last year). Bogey does not seem to be improving. In my opinion, he is worse than 2-3 years ago. Holt is not a good defender. Hernandez should be okay. HRam is a question mark but is below average at best, even when healthy. Maybe we sign a better defensive 1B to dig our Devers' throws.
  3. Preventing someone from calling 9-1-1 when they feel the need to do so, is pretty bad (assuming these facts are true).
  4. I'm talking just defense. True, Devers could improve, but he looked pretty bad this year. Bogey is bottom 14 at best- bottom 4 at worst. Holt/Hernandez are below average at 2B, IMO. HRam is below average at 1B. With no pluses to compensate for all the negatives, it's worse than it looks.
  5. Sounds more like it, although getting better pitching should always be one priority.
  6. I'm not sure we can believe pitching is our number one priority, even if someone inside the system leaked it out.. It could just mean that's what DD is looking at right now as he waits for the JD market and competition to come into focus.
  7. Just because JD won't sign today, doesn't mean we have to do something stupid.
  8. JD could fill the 4th OF'er slot and probably play 30-40 games with no OF injuries. He would play in the OF when we play in NL parks. DH'ing the rest of the games makes the most sense. With our IF defense looking very shaky, we should not weaken the OF defense, unless we have to. We could start the season with this IF: 1B: HRam 2B: Holt 3B: Devers SS: Bogey
  9. As of now, I agree. We'll have one more year of viewing Devers at 3B on defense, and we can decide if he should continue at 3B or be moved to 1B. We could also sign Machado to play SS and trade Bogey (or move him to 2B, if Pedey is toast).
  10. Not surprising.
  11. With limited options due to a weak farm and somewhat limited budget, signing an OF'er and trading JBJ for pitching makes some sense. I hate to lose the best defensive starting CF I've seen play for the Sox. (Fred Lynn & Darren Lewis were close).
  12. There are still plenty of glitzy players available. Ohtani was a risk and unknown. Stanton is the only big domino to fall. Give DD & Henry a chance.
  13. Too expensive. We'll be on the second year of paying the luxury tax. We'll need to start locking up our own players. Our OF is our biggest strength. Not that i'd mind, if we signed him, and Henry decided to spend away.
  14. That's been our M. O.
  15. Wonder if that is because nobody ever inquired.
  16. He did not have enough PAs to qualify, but even if he went o for 16 in the PAs need to qualify, he'd have still led the league.

  19. That pretty much says it all.
  20. Longhi is not a pitcher.
  21. Wasn't that $36M/3 for Santana? I'd offer more.
  22. A few ex-Sox prospects around the league were added to the 40-man rosters of their respective teams as well. Mauricio Dubon (Brewers), Luis Alexander Basabe (White Sox), and Gerson Bautista (Mets) were all protected ahead of the Rule 5 draft. Nick Longhi was considered likely to be added by the Cincinnati Reds before suffering an elbow injury that required Tommy John surgery in August.
  23. He's the best baseball GM of all time.
