    He sees the bench calling the pitches, so that must mean sandy is a dufus and brings nothing to the defensive side of the equation. Like pitch calling is the only factor on defense for a catcher.

    Nobody should be judged on his first 213 PAs in MLb vs LHPs. He did well in the minors, so I'm hoping he picks it up vs lefties. I'm just saying I'm concerned and it needs to be watched.

    I'm still concerned about Beni vs LHPs. He's gotten his OPS up to .655 this yeat during his recent hot streak, but he's going to have be more consistent in that area. He's at .600 career, but the sample size is still just over 210 PAs. He deserves more time, but he's gotta do better than .600 or .655.

    Yes, but giving all the credit to DD for trading away Ben's prospects is not really fair.

    They changed the rule based on what happened to Castillo, but his case is grandfathered. He's not on the 40 man roster, so his contract does not count, but if we add him, it will count, even if they remove him from the 40 man roster later.

    The only bad thing the HRam release created was a thinning of our1b depth chart. Moreland playing FT looks great now, but he could be playing way over his head. He's currently at .833 vs LHPs but has struggled against them pretty much his whole career. .682 vs LHPs in 2017 .684 vs LHPs career We have Holt and Swihart as bench help, but Sam Travis is doing porrly in AAA. With Pedey back, but not yet at FT, Nunez will be available to play more often and at more positions. To me, his availability in the OF allows JD to DH just about FT (OF in NL parks).

    I guess you don't count all the Ben players traded by DD for Sale, Kimbrel, Pom and others.

    Imagine if Castillo's contract counted against the luxury budget! We'd be over the $40M limit this year and would be looking at going over again next year, unless we didn't sign Moreland and Nunez or traded some salary away.

    We can see how much HRam's contract is handucffing us this year. Having that contract next year would have nearly crippled us.

    I think it was one of those Yankee fan posters who said there was no way Wright would pitch for us this season. I've always been a Wright fan, and it's nice to see him doing well out of the gate. I can't say he's one of my favorite players anymore, but he and Velazquez really give us some great middle relief-spot starter abilities.

    I was a little worried Beni was going through a sophomore slump season, but he's looking better than ever. While everyone is watching Betts and JD, we have a few other hitters capable of dominating. Keep it going Beni!

    You are assuming he'll end up signing for the minimum. My guess is, he signs for $1.5-3M with someone.
