  1. Here's a list of all DD's trades: Kimbrel> Margot, Asuaje, Allen & Guerra Smith & Elias> Miley & J Aro Aaron Hill> A Wilkerson & W Rijo B Ziegler> L Basabe (the other one) & J Almonte Pomeranz> A Espinoza F Abad> Pat Light Sale> Moncada, Kopech, Basabe & V Diaz Thornburg> T Shaw, M Dubon & J Pennington Josh Tobias> Buchholz Cash for IFA signing bonus> Longhi, I Diaz & S Espinal Nunez> S Anderson & G Santos A Reed> G Bautista, J Callahan & S Nogosek E Filia> R Elias
  2. I'm thinking DD wants to stay under the $40M penalty line, so our trade options could be severely limited to what the pro-rated cost of the player we are acquiring is.
  3. Jacko is right. We are not trading for Machado. We don't have what it takes.
  4. I am loving what I'm seeing from Cora, and no matter how subtle it is, I'm seeing more fire and desire in this team. I'd still like to see Bogey bat second, but that is not meant to be a slam on Cora. It's just my own personal opinion. I'd go... vs RHP 1) Betts RF 2) Bogey SS 3) Beni LF 4) JD DH 5) Moreland 1B 6) Devers 3B 7) (Pedey)Nunez 2B 8) JBJ CF 9) Vaz/Leon C vs LHPs 1) Betts RF 2) (Pedey) Holt 2B 3) Bogey SS 4) JD DH 5) Beni LF 6) Moreland 1B 7) Devers 3B 8) JBJ CF 9) Vaz/LeonC It's hard to make a good line-up vs lefties.
  5. Big win tonight. Nice to see Bogey with the big hit, JBj get an RBI and Devers get on base. Mr. Tingles is making his haters tingle down their spines.
  6. Remember that Bogey was one of our best hitters before going on the DL. if he can return to that form, we'd have a very very solid 4: Betts Beni Bogey JDM
  7. Devers and JBJ both contributed tonight. Let's hope we see more and more in the upcoming days.
  8. The biggest risk is that once you add him to the 40 man roster, there's no going back and then counting the salary against the limit until the contract is over. As of now, the risk is too great.
  9. Players rarely get called up unless there's a need. Just because the need was great does not make it a panic move. Now, had Pablo been hitting well, Devers might still be in the minors.
  10. Without Betts in the line-up, it wasn't a big deal, to me. It had the effect of lengthening the line-up, for what that's worth. Unlike many of the posters I agree with most, I do believe in the "hot hand", and Nunez has been over .300 in his last 14 and 28 days. I'd have made the line-up differently, but I could say that every day with every manager. It doesn't mean I think he was wrong. (Usually) I did call JF criminally negligent for batting Holt in the 1 or 2 slot last year something like 8 times, so I'm not above being micro critical.
  11. No worry there- just cut his ass, if he sucks.
  12. Very well said. I try to avoid criticizing individual in-game decisions made by a manager. Sure, they must make mistakes, but I'm not even sure the ones they make are the ones we notice or call out, or that one's we pretty much all agree were mistakes might not really be ones, but for the hindsight fact that the choice failed. Managers have reasons for doing things that we just don't know about. I'm fine with people debating the choices, but I, personally, prefer to debate managing philosophies in general- like the alternating lefty-righty line-up thing (I'm against it, unless both hitters are equal), where to slot your best batter, how often and when should you rest players, should you ever bench "the hot hand?", and much more.
  13. It is a shame, but I'm not sure it should be called ridiculous. What was said needed to be said, and if people twist it out of proportion, then yes, that is sad, but hopefully those people are giving to other worthy causes, and we're not losing any net charity.
  14. No, I was not suggesting you were sugar-coating the bad, and you made a point I should have made in my original criticism of the first post. I'm turning 60 next year, and if there's one thing I've learned over my time, is that just about nobody is all bad or all good. We all are imperfect beings. There is rampant racism and genocide going on in our time, so I guess it makes me cringe a bit, when people bring up the "that era" argument. Are all of us doing the best or most we can within our busy lives to end it? I doubt it. I know I try to my part, but I could do more, and in the future, I could be judged as "going along" with my era too much. Let's get back to baseball. I'm not trying to get the last word in, here. I'm just not wanting this site to become too political. I come here to get away from all that, despite being guilty off taking part in it from time to time.
  15. Jalen Beeks 7.0 IP 6 H 1 ER 7Ks Mike Ohlman with his 17th HR. Josh Ockimey 2 for 4 with a 2B.
  16. Nunez aactually has better OF defense numbers than IF, but that knee is probably too questionable to try out there.
  17. Very true. Nothing is ever as black and white (pun intended) as it seems. Yawkey did a lot of good, as did the ruthless SOB Andrew Carnegie. There's always gray area, but let's not sugar coat the bad or ignore the good.
  18. We're catcher 28th now in fWAR, which doesn't factor in how catchers get the most out of their staff. Our catchers are warming up. Nunez is part of our bench. He's covering while Pedey is out. If Pedey never returns, then our bench helped us. Moreland started on the bench, but now that we cut HRam, he's not. As far as I know, Pedey is still on the roster.
  19. Nobody is slamming the foundation. Yawkey was a racist. Racism was present in the Sox organization at least up to the Tommy Harper issues. I'm still a huge Sox fan, so Obviously some of us are able to look beyond him and that era. It's not hypocrisy to call it the way we see it, and not sugar coat anything just because many intelligent people did racists things back in that day. There were countless people who stood up to it. It demeans their lives and history to sugar coat racism because everyone was doing it.
  20. Yes, we don't want to use up all our budget space either to make a slight upgrade only to have an injury mess us up.
  21. I was thinking Alex Hassan.
  22. What would his upside be had he remained with the M's?
  23. It's nice to see Holt & Nunez getting the hits. With their sub Pedey 2Bman defense, we need them hitting.
  24. We don't have what it takes to get "Salvy".
