  1. Well, our pitchers never had to face our hitters, so maybe their WAR would be worse, if they did. I like our top 3-4 starters as much as anyone else's. I like our line-up more than anyone else's. I like our defense more than any other AL playoff team's. We are second in SBs. I like our chances more than anyone else's to win it all, but those chances are still well below 50%.
  2. Here's a look at the AL Playoff SP'ers (fWAR used): (Ranked among only 5 playoff team pitchers. In theory, 5 teams x 5 SP'er makes the sample size 25 pitchers) BOS 1. Sale 6.2 12. Price 2.9 15. Porcello 2.6 17. ERod 2.2 22. Eovaldi 1.6 HOU 2. Verlander 6.0 4. G Cole 5.7 9. Keuchel 3.5 11. Morton 2.9 16.. McCullers 2.3 (to the pen) CLE 3. Bauer 6.0 (Injured) 6. Kluber 4.9 7. Carrasco 4.9 8. Clevinger 4.3 14. Bieber 2.6 NYY 5. Severino 5.5 10. Happ 3.0 13. Tanaka 2.7 18. Lynn 2.5 19. Sabathia 2.1 23. Gray 1.6 OAK 20. Cahil 1.9 21. Manaea 1.8(injured) 24. Anderson 1.0 25. Montas 0.9 26. Jackson 0.8
  3. I wasn't think of pee. I guess just young guys (and Trump) do that.
  4. I don't want to trade him: I hope we extend him, but yes, after 2019 might be the best time to trade him, especially if we know we won't keep him.
  5. I wouldn't be surprised, if he has further prolonged slumps, but I'm hopeful he will stay more consistently between. 700 and .850. I do think his extremely poor start to 2018 will keep his arb cost down a bit.
  6. He was one of the few top everyday Sox prospects to not pan out.
  7. Then, you woke up (all wet).
  8. I hope so. I think some long rest will help.
  9. Well, he has had some torrid streaks in the past. I was hoping he had one at some point. Instead, he's just been consistent as hell since mid May (over 4 months) . He just passed Bogey in second half OPS (.837 to .823). JBJ has the 3rd best second half OPS on the team (110+ PAs)-- 4th if you count Pearce with his 108 PAs..
  10. No. I said he is still on the roster. I suggested he may be nearing bubble status. Besides, who else plays 1B vs RHPs? Holt? Nah. Travis? Nah. Swihart? Long shot, at best. Moreland is on the roster, but he's hitting worse than Vaz in the second half of 2018 (and Vaz's full season number, too). Lot's of people want Vaz off the roster. 2nd Half Sox OPS 1.014 JD .935 Betts .878 Pearce .837 JBJ .823 Bogey .739 Holt .739 Nunez .707 Beni .691 Devers .669 Swihart .563 Vaz .558 Moreland .342 Leon
  11. Okay, I predict A team that goes on a roll will win it all.
  12. I can understand why people dislike the knuckle ballers and all the scary things that can happen, like WPs and PBs with men on base, but I think about them this way: if a catcher has difficulty catching the ball, think about a hitter trying to hit the damn thing! Wright has been consistently good to very good as far back as his last 3-4 minor league seasons. It's time he gets the cred he deserves. It wasn't his fault he was used as a PR'er. Career MLB: 24-15 3.78 (338 IP) AAA: 15-19 3.67 (338 IP) AA: 29-15 3.51 (395 IP) He's been in AA or higher ball since 2008!!
  13. His GM also traded some of his best players right out from under Cash's nose during this season!
  14. I agree. JD wins the Silver Slugger Award.
  15. Wright and Eovaldi are sure locks. I'm pretty sure Devers, Nunez and Holt make it. Moreland is beginning to move towards the bubble area, but I wouldn't put him there now. Maybe some prolonged rest might help. Here's my updated list: Locks: 13-14 Everyday players C: Leon 1B: Moreland (?) & Pearce 2B: Kinsler & Holt 3B: Nunez & Devers SS: Bogey LF: Beni CF: JBJ RF: Betts DH: JD C2: Vaz and/or Swihart (Swihart with the edge if just one goes) Bubble (if we go with 13 everyday players): Swihart or Vaz (If 14 everyday players) Swihart/Vaz or Lin/Phillips Pretty sure locked out: Lin, Phillips, Travis 11-12 Pitchers SP (5): Sale, Price, Porcello, Eovaldi & ERod RP (3): Kimbrel, Wright & Brasier Lock, if healthy (1): Barnes Has to take another step back to not make it: Workman Bubble (2-3, or 3-4 if Barnes is not healthy): Johnson, Poyner, Velazquez Need multiple steps forward to have a chance at passing 1-2 from the "bubble" list (2): Hembree & Thornburg Pretty much locked out, unless they stage a miracle turn around in multiple appearances(2): Kelly & Pom Virtually no chance (2): Scott & Cuevas
  16. I'm not one to make judgements based on one game, and the history does go beyond one game for ERod and Eovaldi (and Price to some extent), so I'm now in agreement with this position. Eovaldi should start game 3 (in NYC), and Price/ERod game 4. If we play Oakland, maybe things change. Weird, we used to try and start lefties in NY.
  17. Cora is up there, but I agree.
  18. Gotta love this team!
  19. Ending it against Stanton would be poetic justice.
  20. I read the post. I disagreed with the idea that the league had "learned to pitch to us" and used tonight's game to razz you guys a little bit. Isn't there a slight chance we just went through a stretch where a bunch of players all slumped near the same time, and it wasn't some great league awakening to how to get us out? Could it be some players and teams can adjust to adjustments for the first time in MLB history? Sorry, I just never bought the theory as gospel. (You're right about starters' vs relievers' approaches, though.)
  21. Or, sign Kershaw, Morton, Happ and Britton and let the kids slug it out on offense.
