  1. Any notions that contract costs are leveling out are kaput.
  2. Hmmmmm..... maybe OPS against 2018/Career vs LHBs .429 Poyner .551/.751 Hembree .643/.753 Barnes .647/.709 Brasier .665/.615 Johnson .670/.748 Workman Thornburg career: .556 vs LHBs .760 vs RHBs' Stunning reverse splits.
  3. ...and Kimmi says put your best hitter second.
  4. I don't like JBJ 9th regardless of who bat first. Vaz & Leon are worse hitters. I'd also have him ahead of Nunez or Holt and maybe a tired Moreland.
  5. Our righty pen guys do very well vs LHPs. I'm not sure it is such an urgent need area.
  6. I'd say Lakins and Chavis (if he's not traded). Maybe Juan Centeno, assuming Swihart is traded.
  7. Don't you have to have a need in mind to even want to listen to offers? Would he trade one of these three for a RP'er and a top prospect? That's the only type of trade that has any remote sense of logic, but why look to build up the farm, when the window still has one year to go? Just trade Swihart, Chavis and Shawaryn or Houck for a decent RP'er. Maybe we are trying to stay under the $40M line. I have us about $4-5M under right now, so that's not enough to get a top RP'er through free agency, unless we trade someone making a lot of money. I'm thinking trying to trade Moreland or Nunez to free up budget space makes more sense, but both would create new issues.
  8. I actually wish the Yanks singed him to this foolish deal.
  9. I can't see us trading a valuable asset this winter. We are poised to be the favorites next year. Our biggest need is the pen, and you don't trade Bogey, Porcello or JBJ for a pen arm.
  10. I like the idea of the best hitter batting second. I'd like to see Bogey 3rd and JD 4th. Devers can bat 5th or the 1B platoon.
  11. I wouldn't count anything Kelly gives us going forward as part of the trade. Signing him is a separate acquisition.
  12. I haven't heard anything.
  13. Proves nothing. We aren't trading Porcello, JBJ or Bogey. We wouldn't have signed Eovaldi, if we were looking to rebuild. This is just attention getting.
  14. That's one reason I thought the deal would be doubtful.
  15. I doubt we have enough budget space for both. Both will likely get 3 or more years.
  16. Sounds like a trade is a certainty.
  17. I would not sign Cervelli to a 1 year $11.5M contract, so why should we trade anyone for him without some salary relief?
  18. There's no way this deal involves Syndergaard, unless some other major pieces are added.
  19. I would think there would have to be some salary relief as part of any deal. I'm not sure Pitt wants to pay cash, and I doubt this deal would work: Nunez ($5M), Swihart & PTBNL for Cervelli ($11.5M) Then, maybe add a 2Bman rule 5 or roll the dice with Pedey, Holt, Lin and Hernandez. (Nunez + Vaz would come close to evening out the money.)
  20. It's a 4 or 5 year window: 2016-2019 or 2020/
  21. Again, I'm not disagreeing with you on DD's impressive rebuild and long run at being competitive. I just felt like your claim that he made them a contender in 2 years was not true. It took 4 years. The team was then competitive for 7 of 9 years, which is a great and long stretch, before they hit a cliff.
  22. It's not happening, and you know it. Fans getting high on their team's prospects is nothing new. I'm sure DD is not counting on anything from those 4 in 2019.
