  1. soxprospects has us with 37 players on the current 40 man roster. Is there some rule about having to have a certain amount of players on the 40 man roster? Wright is suspended. He makes 38, when he comes back. Nobody is on the 60 day DL.
  2. Yes, Joe Kelly & Carson Smtih let up 6 runs in the 8th after Sale & Barnes 1 hit the Rays through 7 IP.
  3. I'll say in May, especially on warm day.
  4. I hoped this thread would not become something like this.
  5. I can't remember who was complaining and who was just worried, and maybe sometimes it's hard to tell the difference, but it sure sounded like a lot of complaining, lost hope and even disgust and anger pretty much all season long, except for maybe the 17-2 start and a little bit afterwards. (Not saying from you, specifically.)
  6. They complained enough while winning 108!
  7. Can we get back to baseball? Has Cora named a closer, or are we sharing the duty for a while?
  8. I know. I didn't take it in a bad way. KI'm a huge Cora and Devers supporter. Bring it on!
  9. LOL! I like the line-up. No complaints here.
  10. Cora announces opening day line-up: 1. Beni 2. Betts 3. Devers 4. JD 5. Bogey 6. Moreland 7. Nunez 8. JBJ 9. Vaz
  11. Cora announces opening day line-up: 1. Beni 2. Betts 3. Devers 4. JD 5. Bogey 6. Moreland 7. Nunez 8. JBJ 9. Vaz
  12. Good one! My guess is, as soon as we fall behind 3-0 in a game, we'll here it.
  13. No Eovaldi & Brasier for over half the season, as well.
  14. Great points. I'm with you 100%. Think of how many times some wrote us off last year during a rough patch. Have faith, my fellow Sox fans! Back-to Back!!
  15. What if we stuck with a 6 man rotation all year long and used the starter as the closer on their throwing day between starts? Would the less starts make up for the extra hard throwing when closing? Is the risk too great, they will "overthrow" when closing and get hurt? (I'm against the idea.)
  16. I got your point. We may only need one starter next year (to replace Porcello), so there is still time.
  17. Me, too, but I thing the others are much longer shots. ML Ready or near ML ready: (age) 22 D Hernandez 24 Shawaryn 26 Shepherd 22 Reyes 1-2 years away 22 Houck 21 Scherff 2-3+ years away: 19 Mata 20 Groome
  18. IMO, he's got a long way to go to pass Vaz as our #1 catcher.
  19. "Cool Stats" from MLB.com... Red Sox: Both Mookie Betts and J.D. Martinez hit exactly 26.7 percent of their batted balls last season at least 95 mph (the threshold for hard contact) and in the launch angle “sweet spot” between 8 and 32 degrees. Only the Cardinals’ Matt Carpenter made this type of quality contact at a higher rate. Yankees: Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge have combined to produce each of the 13 hardest-hit home runs since Statcast began tracking in 2015. Stanton set a new Statcast record last Aug. 9 by walloping a homer with an exit velocity of 121.7 mph -- breaking Judge’s mark of 121.1 mph set the previous June.
  20. I explained that I was used to doing team record in starts and kinda went inbetween team record & actual record. I admitted my mistake.
  21. Our best hope seems to be DHernandez.
  22. Pedey & Nunez's improved health could really lengthen our line-up. Having Pearce all year should, too. A consistent JBJ would help. No Leon has to help with line-up balance. We had a pretty balanced attack last year. OPS by... Slot BOS NYY HOU 1) 1.028 .786 .742 (Big gaps here) 2) .759 .862 .903 (Big gap here) 3) .871 .719 .857 (Yanks were putrid, here.) 4) .968 .957 .691 (Astros putrid, here.) 5) .796 .775 .772 (Pretty close) 6) .684 .809 .755 (Sox putrid here.) 7) .667 .687 .684 (Pretty close) 8) .607 .714 .677 (Sox putrid here.) 9) .704 .702 .681 (Very close)
  23. I and others thought my projections were optimistic!
  24. At least Jacko will answer your questions and listen to reason.
  25. Clemens deserved a pounding that night (and much of his life).
