  1. Very hard, but not impossible with no FAs back and no JBJ, Leon, Wright, Hembree...
  2. They are both free agents after 2020.
  3. I'm all for keeping him. My only thought is about resetting this winter, which there is a chance we may try to do. If we try, we will likely trade him and his $8+M salary. If not, I'd keep him for sure.
  4. We don't know what the budget plan is. Again, I'm not for trading JBJ. You were the one that mentioned him being the most likely trade candidate. (Maybe Pedey retires and takes a lifetime services contract to replace the money owed. Maybe we trade JBJ and go cheap everywhere else, except a low cost fill-in here or there.
  5. I'm assuming JBJ ends up at .710 and near GG defense. We could maybe trade his $9M arb cost for a $2-4M RP'er. If he sucks this year, and nobody wants him, his arb may go slightly down, and maybe we don't even agree to arb.
  6. Maybe the poll could have read... __ DFA'd, if not able to trade __ Trade for the best we can get, even if a single A nobody __ Trade for a good prospect __ Trade for a decent, less costly RP'er __ Keep him, at least until this winter
  7. Yes, when someone asked who was going to start when Eovaldi went down and Johnson was injured. (My choice would be DHernandez.)
  8. ...and trading him would not get us under any tax line this year.
  9. You know I'm not for trading JBJ, but as you mentioned, he's the most likely cost-cutting trade we could make this winter.
  10. I agree, but if we trade JBJ and use JD in the OF a lot or even half the time, Dalbec, Chavis and Devers can all get plenty of playing time at 3B, 1B and DH. They won't be bench riders.
  11. ..so, let's trade him right before his good part of the year! (LOL)
  12. It was at .350 about 10 days ago. He's hit a whopping .575 (OPS) in his last 8 games!
  13. Me neither. If we reset the tax next year, we may be stuck with only in-house choices. I like DHernandez as the best chance of winning the 5 slot.
  14. ERA over last 14 days 3.00 Sale 3.27 Price 3.86 Porcello 4.50 ERod 7.36 Velazquez ERod is not the first guy I'd replace.
  15. Do people want him DFA'd? Would they trade him for a single A decent prospect? A nice AA prospect? A top 75-125 prospect? A top 75 prospect? A decent ML RP'er? A very good, low cost RP'er? What? Nobody has made any suggested trades. Do we want JD playing FT in the OF and increasing the chances of injury? Is Chavis really good enough to be a FT DH?
  16. Nobody is saying .421 is fine. It is far from fine, and his defense cannot make up for that low of an OPS. Some of us do think he will return to his .700-.750ish OPS like he seems to do every year. Why not tell us why you think this year will be different, and he'll never get hot or even warm?
  17. I like DHernandez... maybe Shawaryn can be a decent 5th starter. We have Johnson, Velazquez & Wright to fall back on.
  18. Chavis .257 BA .325 OBP 133 BB/1726 PAs (7.7%) Middy .271 BA .325 OBP 198 BB/2795 (7.1%)
  19. K's in the minors Chavis: 437/1726 PAs (25.3%) 28.1% per AB Middy: 702/2795 (25.1%) 27.5% per AB
  20. I could see this next year (assuming JBJ is traded): C: Vaz & Leon 1B: Devers 2B: Chatham & Holt 3B: Dalbec (Chavis/Devers) SS: Bogey LF: JD/Beni CF: Betts RF: Beni/JD DH: Chavis (JD) We may sign a cheap corner IF'er who can play LF.
  21. Can someone change the spelling on this title?
  22. Nobody thinks JBJ's defense makes up for a .421 OPS. We're banking on him getting near or over .700.
  23. Roll on, boys! ROLL ON !!!!!
  24. Nice to everyone with a hit or a BB. ERod calmed down, nicely. The pen is keeping it going. I'm hoping these bats can stay alive!!!!!!
  25. Lin will go down when the first guy comes back. We may have to get creative to keep Chavis up if and when all 3 (Pedey, Nunez & Holt) are healthy... maybe put Pearce or Moreland on the IL. It may be the end of the line for Pedey or Nunez....coming sooner or later.
