  1. Me neither. If we reset the tax next year, we may be stuck with only in-house choices. I like DHernandez as the best chance of winning the 5 slot.
  2. ERA over last 14 days 3.00 Sale 3.27 Price 3.86 Porcello 4.50 ERod 7.36 Velazquez ERod is not the first guy I'd replace.
  3. Do people want him DFA'd? Would they trade him for a single A decent prospect? A nice AA prospect? A top 75-125 prospect? A top 75 prospect? A decent ML RP'er? A very good, low cost RP'er? What? Nobody has made any suggested trades. Do we want JD playing FT in the OF and increasing the chances of injury? Is Chavis really good enough to be a FT DH?
  4. Nobody is saying .421 is fine. It is far from fine, and his defense cannot make up for that low of an OPS. Some of us do think he will return to his .700-.750ish OPS like he seems to do every year. Why not tell us why you think this year will be different, and he'll never get hot or even warm?
  5. I like DHernandez... maybe Shawaryn can be a decent 5th starter. We have Johnson, Velazquez & Wright to fall back on.
  6. Chavis .257 BA .325 OBP 133 BB/1726 PAs (7.7%) Middy .271 BA .325 OBP 198 BB/2795 (7.1%)
  7. K's in the minors Chavis: 437/1726 PAs (25.3%) 28.1% per AB Middy: 702/2795 (25.1%) 27.5% per AB
  8. I could see this next year (assuming JBJ is traded): C: Vaz & Leon 1B: Devers 2B: Chatham & Holt 3B: Dalbec (Chavis/Devers) SS: Bogey LF: JD/Beni CF: Betts RF: Beni/JD DH: Chavis (JD) We may sign a cheap corner IF'er who can play LF.
  9. Can someone change the spelling on this title?
  10. Nobody thinks JBJ's defense makes up for a .421 OPS. We're banking on him getting near or over .700.
  11. Roll on, boys! ROLL ON !!!!!
  12. Nice to everyone with a hit or a BB. ERod calmed down, nicely. The pen is keeping it going. I'm hoping these bats can stay alive!!!!!!
  13. Lin will go down when the first guy comes back. We may have to get creative to keep Chavis up if and when all 3 (Pedey, Nunez & Holt) are healthy... maybe put Pearce or Moreland on the IL. It may be the end of the line for Pedey or Nunez....coming sooner or later.
  14. You answered yes to an either or question.
  15. How do we improve on JBJ? Make a suggestion.
  16. OPS over the last 14 days: (25+ PAs) 1.086 Chavis 1.059 Betts .890 JD .868 Devers .795 Vaz .786 Beni .716 Bogey .539 Moreland .494 JBJ .290 Pearce
  17. The only "poor-handling" was not trading him before it got to the point where his value was low and we had no place to play a guy out of options.
  18. There was no opening in the OF. You keep saying he needed more PAs. Who did he deserve to take PAs away on our 108 win team?
  19. ...with Home field advantage all the way...
  20. ...and one could argue about why I was sure we were going to win it all last year after just 21 games.
  21. It's not "too bad." It's what he deserves. You only get a handful of ABs each week, when you don't distinguish yourself during countless chances and seasons of mediocrity or worse on offense.
  22. I think Chavis stays and we trade or DFA Nunez or Pedey stays on the IL. Holt will stay.
  23. I'm not one to think one's recent level of play necessarily projects what happens going forward. We have a very strong team- basically the same as last year, especially the offense. I don't see any reason to think we will hit this poorly going forward.
  24. There's no reason to think they won't start getting hot now, instead of mid May.
