  1. The thing is, the state went dark way before temps reached the lowest temps since 1989. Yes, our grid is a mess, and it's been known to be so for a long time. We are expanding solar power, here, but coal burning is still a significant factor in our power generation.
  2. I doubt it takes much to get Adam Frazier. I'd give Chavis, but who knows what his value is to other GMs. BTV says he's worth more than Frazier. I doubt it. I might give Chavis and some low prospect.
  3. After Sawamura at $3M/2, I think we trade for a 2Bman or CF'er. I doubt we add any more pitchers until the deadline, assuming we are in the race. (I'd sure like to replace Brice with almost anyone, but I'm not sure that happens.) Our opening day 13 man pitching staff (Sale on the 60-day IL): ERod Eovaldi Richards Pivetta Perez Ottavino Barnes DHern Brasier Sawamura Andriese (no options) Brice (no options) Whitlock (rule 5) AAA: Houck, Taylor, Valdez, Mata, Seabold, Brewer, Bazardo If we want Houck on the 26 man roster, we have to DFA Brice or trade someone.
  4. We got our power back around midnight- just as temps were dropping below 20 and headed towards 13. It still shocks me that 25 degree temperatures can cripple a whole state.
  5. The "way" was to pay Betts, Price, JD, Sale & Bogey and have 21 replacement level players fill out the rest of the roster. (Sarcasm alert but with kernal of truth.)
  6. That was JBJs spot!
  7. Where in Maine are you?
  8. In my houses I had drilled wells with good pressure but without a pump we had little water. My parents own a place on sebago that has an artesian well. I don’t go there in the winter but I can guess they need power for water and heat.
  9. They’d have to cut Brice. The man with 9 lives.
  10. Something can be a very high priority and still not happen. This is baseball. Nothing is a given.
  11. It’s nice to see the list getting much shorter. Bloom has done a good job on the 28-37th slots.
  12. Funny how I never meant to actually compare Cordero to Ortiz- I just brought up the late bloomer aspect, but I read an article whereby some guy from KC mentioned Ortiz & Cordero.
  13. I cut down all my own trees for wood- usually 5-6 cord a year. I had Kerosene back up so no power needed for that either. Candles and lanterns for light. Gas stoves for cooking. Outside for frozen foods. Who needs a shower every week?
  14. Portland, Gray, Limington and New Glouster. 20 years in 2 log homes. We come back to Sebago Lake every summer. I never called myself a Maniac.
  15. I can’t wait to watch you back peddle, this summer.
  16. Umm... I lived in Maine for over 35 years. The difference is, I had wood stoves.
  17. I say Frazier because Pitt has put him on the market. I’m sure there are others. We just need a 1 year fix.
  18. I vote Brice & Springs but I’ll be wrong, again. We keep Wilson until we add an OFer.
  19. I finally figured out how to light the gas fireplace without electricity but it barely makes a difference. Well be okay.
  20. Rosenthal will cost too much. I still like the idea of trading for a 2Bman like Adam Frazier and signing Workman.
  21. Cranky or not, he’ll be playing hard for his next contract, assuming just a 1 year deal with the Sox.
  22. As much as I’d like to see us add a starter like Odorizzi, the pen is a big need. I’d like to see us trade for a bridge 2Bman and use Kike in CF, but I doubt that happens. We may not even add a CFer. Maybe they trust Cordero to be healthy. Marwin is the insurance, or they go with Arroyo at 2B. It’s nice to have several options.
  23. We have a nice core of young and prime players. Even our oldest players are still young enough to have big years.
  24. We’ve been without power for 13 hours, and it’s about 25 outside (55 inside). It’s going to get to 15 tonight! I guess 1.5 million Texans are without electricity. We have about an inch of snow- most we’ve seen since moving here in ‘04.
