  1. That's devastating news for the Yanks. Although pitching has not been their weakness, this hurts badly. Tough break.
  2. Tough DP by Vaz. I thought we might be on our way to yet another big comeback.
  3. Arauz is maybe 5-10th on the DFA/trade list.
  4. Injury Updates (MLB.com): Bogey: Day to day Alex Cora said in the NESN pre-game show that Bogaerts will likely be out a couple of days and Sunday is the hope for his return. Sale: August Three days after throwing off Fenway Park’s bullpen mound, Sale fired a side session on the main diamond on June 11. The Red Sox are so encouraged by the way he looks that they’re actually trying to contain their enthusiasm. Ryan Brasier: July The Red Sox had good news on Brasier. One day after he was struck on the right side of his face by a line drive in a simulated game, the reliever was released from the hospital and resting comfortably at his apartment in Fort Myers, Fla. Brasier has a concussion, but it appears he has otherwise dodged any additional head injuries. Before that scary incident, he was in the final stages of recovering from a left calf strain suffered at the end of Spring Training. Brasier's sim game on Friday was expected to be his last step before going on a Minor League rehab assignment. Now, he will have to go through concussion protocol and additional recovery before the Red Sox clear him to return to baseball activities.
  5. Any news on when Bogey returns?
  6. Nice breakdown. And this... Brandon Brennan 3-4 yrs remaining Workman is a FA after this year. I think Houck (4-5 yrs of control remaining) ends up in the pen, and maybe Whitlock ends up in the rotation. Not counting current starters in the minors that could be converted to pen arms, here are a few names that may make an impact in the bigs, this year or next- only Bazardo is on the 40, now: Kaleb Ort Eduard Bazardo (5 years) Durbin Feltman John Schreiber AA now Chase Shugart Jacob Wallace Frank German Alex Scherff
  7. I wouldn't do either, except call up Duran when he is deemed ready by the Sox organization. I'm not trading anything very promising for any rental. I might trade Chavis for a RP'er.
  8. We have been ahead after 1 inning 17 times (13-4 record). We have been tied after 1 inning 30times (17-13). We have been behind after 1 inning 17 times (9-8). After 2 innings: ahead 29(22-7) tied 14 (9-5) behind 21 (8-13) After 3: ahead 26 (22-4) tied 15 (10-5) behind 21 (8-13) After 4 ahead 27 (25-2) tied 13 (7-6) behind 24 (7-17) For a 35-25 team, you'd expect us to be ahead early more than behind, but 23 come from behind wins out of 35 is amazing.
  9. That's a better plan than many I have seen, here.
  10. Great article. Thanks.
  11. Maybe we can get him on rule 5, someday.
  12. One of my wife's best friends lives in Coyocan, and whenever we visit, we stay at her house. Yes, it is a very nice area. Safe, too.
  13. Cue the Casas call-up brigade.
  14. Our starters are in a funk, some for just a start or two, but still... BA Against the last 7 days: .500 Perez (16 PA) + 3 BB .442 Richards (52) + 4 BB .407 Eovaldi (30) + 3 BB .350 Pivetta (23) + 3 BB .275 ERod (44) + 4 BB and 2 HRs OPS Against 1.625 Perez 1.207 Eovaldi .985 Pivetta .921 Richards .816 ERod Go back 2 weeks: .898 Richards .869 ERod .853 Perez .844 Eovaldi .744 Pivetta We need the "Big Nick" to stop the flow of hits our starters have been giving up fora week or so.
  15. Yes, I lived in Taxquena for almost 4 years. Stayed pretty much to the south for the most part. We were married in Coyocan. I miss the big city and did not want to move, but finances were becoming strained.
  16. I could not get this to open.
  17. Thanks. Nice words on Sale, too.
  18. Improvements will be made, and this was supposed to be the season we tried a number of borderline players at 1B, 2B and OF to determine who might stick and what our highest need area would be for 2022 and beyond. As of now, it looks like 2B might be covered- long term: Arroyo, Downs, Yorke and others. OF and 1B seem like our biggest need, and catcher will be after 2022. We may not spend big at SP'er, this winter, but we will need to re-sign or replace Barnes and Ottavino, add another pen piece and try to upgrade OF (beyond just Duran) and 1B (Dalbec or Chavis may be gone by '22). There should be enough cash to fill all those needs.
  19. I would not be so sure about us not signing one of the "old guys." The upside is none will get a 6+ year deal. Some won't even get 4. A strong veteran presence may help, too. Our best bet may be to hope Sale is the guy we need and Whitlock covers another slot, although all of our rotation, except ERod is under team control for 2022.
  20. I would go: Barnes Ottavino Whitlock Taylor Sawamura Valdez DHern
  21. Don't look now, but Arroyo is fast approaching the .800 OPS mark. He already 60 points ahead of Renfroe and only 30 behind Verdugo! BTW, Dalbec moved 55 points ahead of Marwin's current OPS after his dinger, tonight and Marwin's 0 for 3. What's up with all the hits allowed by our starters, recently? Tonight 11 hits in 3.1 Erod 6 in 4.2, last night. Perez 6 in 2.0 on Wed, night. Eovaldi 11 in 5.2 Tue night. Pivetta 7 in 4.2 vs Miami. Richards 8 in 5.0 in his start before tonight.
  22. Speaking of Duran, he went 0-5, tonight. Wilson went 1-4 (2B) with a BB Chavis homered, went 2 for 4 and had 3 rbi. Lopez came in for Arauz and went 2-3. Gonsalves went 5 strong (4H, 1BB, 0 ER) Ort got the save- no hits or BBs, again. In AA, Ronaldo Hernandez had 3 hits, including his 4th HR. Castellanos went deep and was 2-5.Rosario ad 2 hits an na BB
  23. I'm not sure any of us know a "ready player" when we see it. I'd be very happy if they called him up tonight-mostly because I trust Bloom & Co. to only call him up when he is truly ready, and not as a panic move. Let's leave it to Sox brass is my motto.
  24. The only other real options are Gossett or Weber or a pen game led off by Andriese or Whitlock.
  25. We knew a great Pozole place that only opened on Sundays. Two old ladies ran the place. It was packed. I love Rajas. (Poblano Pepper strips with onions and crema- a sort of creamy sour sream.) Tinga, Tacos al pastor, picadillo and so much more.
