  1. I agree on Feltman. The more I read about Mayer, the more I think he'll be our #1 prospect right away. Casas is not really doing anything special. Downs has a .609 OPS and Duran in in the ML's now.
  2. Sale Eovaldi ERod Pivetta Perez Richards Barnes Ottavino Whitlock Houck Taylor DHern That's 12, right there. If we go with 13: pick one from... Sawamura (IL) Valdez Brasier (IL>rehab) Rios Andriese Workman Seabold Even if ERod goes to the IL, we look 13 deep, once Sale comes aboard. I'm always for adding a pitcher, but Bloom might just add a cheap 1Bman and call it a day.
  3. We just added Houck, and Valdez looks good. When we add Sale, I'm not sure Bloom thinks we need to trade for an arm.
  4. Red Sox History... Only Teddy Ballgame and Tony C hit 100 HRs by the same age as Devers.
  5. Anybody else wonder if what ERod went through, tonight had anything to do with COVID? There is a pretty wide variety of symptoms reported, sometimes long after apparent recovery.
  6. Not the one he just had.
  7. Jimenez is hard to value. His upside may keep Bloom from dealing him. Ward may not even need rule 5 protection, but he may still be wanted by some GM
  8. Seabold goes 3.1 innings 3 ER (6 runs) 3 H 4 BB 1 K Feltman in his AAA debut... 2 IP 3 ER 4 H 0 BB 1 K Matheny with an HR Wong 2 for 5 Portland won 7-6 by scoring 4 in the bottom of the 9th and 2 in the 10th.
  9. A bullpen that gave 3 innings from a recent AAA call-up and two from Rios.
  10. It was a long run but the ball was hit high. It looked to me like he thought it was going to be an easy play. I missed teh replay, so I could be wrong.
  11. I watched the game. I just stayed away from the game thread. Yes, good to see Verdugo's bat warming up, but what was with that lah-dee-dah dropped fly ball play? He's starting to make me doubt his character.
  12. We can afford to trade a couple guys that may not make the 40 man, next year- guys like Potts, Rosario, Chavis or someone we might be surprised by Bloom thinking we can do without. I don't see him trading anyone very promising. I think the highest he goes is maybe Groome or Ward.
  13. I wouldn't trade Casas for Freeman & Rizzo.
  14. 4:05 start time Eovaldi- the Yankee killer. The team is pulling together, nicely, with some newbies onboard and Houck & Valdez back in the saddle. The bats are showing life- Kike is leading the way. Devers is on pace for somewhere near 50 HRs and 150 RBI. All is good in Red Sox Nation.
  15. Nice win. I stayed away to keep my sanity. Last night's negativism was a bit overboard, to me. This season is magical. I can't think of a better word to describe some of the wins we have gotten. I've said it before, "Devers forevers: lock him up! (long term)" The pen was astounding, especially since the big 2 weren't involved or needed. Keep it rolling. Keep the mojo rising!
  16. No way Bloom trades anyone this good. NO WAY!
  17. Going 6 and allowing 3 ERs is a quality start. I guess that's mediocre on your scale. Porcello averaged slightly better than that. (2.9 ERs per 6 IP)
  18. That is a big "IF," but if you compare Houck with the Perezof late, yes, it's clear, but I doubt GMs go by just recency valuations. The Perez of his first 11 starts was a 3.09 Perez. The Perez of an 8 game stretch early in the year was a .614 OPS Against Perez. The sample size on Houck is very small, and it should include his 5.14 ERA in AAA, this year (18 innings- some in rehab). I'd say Sale will take Richards' slot. Perez gets a couple more starts to show improvement, at least, unless he totally bombs.
  19. Is Henry planning a trip to space?
  20. Was he very good the other part of his career? If so, doesn't a little very good mixed in with mostly mediocre, make you "good" overall?

  22. Trade the bum!
  23. Thanks, Max, but you got us 9 straight. I'm more of the stopper, as I have not lost on my first post, which always comes after a loss. I think my streaks are: 3 4 5 3 1 and now 2 and counting.
