  1. Fair criticism, but I doubt we see players like Boey, Devers, Moncada &Montas from anyone taken in 2015 or afterwards. That's 7 years- some with restrictions, some with low bonus pools and some too recent to know much, but no doubt, we have slipped in this area.
  2. I think Bloom is not the good prospects for 1 year of control type GM. If we could get the A's to add Langeliers, then maybe. (I'd say Trivino, too, but I don't want to start a riot.) BTV accepts this deal, where we trade a lefty OF'er for a salary dump right handed hitter and get our catcher of the future and a RH'd RP'er along with Manaea. Duran, Downs, Jordan & Walter for Manaea, Langeliers, Piscotty & Trivino
  3. B-R 6'2 could mean 6-1 of 6 feet.

  5. He's one of a few that might make their way to a spot start or two, this year: Crawford Winckowski Seabold maybe Bello BTW, B-R has him listed at 6-2 and 190. In 4 minor league seasons, he has a 9.4 K/9 and 1.081 WHIP. (3.51 ERA)
  6. Brasier rates to be our 3rd to 5th best RP'er, on paper. I don't think one bad ST'ing game changes that.
  7. "Great?" One might argue, you and Old Red are one in the same posters. (Yes, I was and still am high on Seabold. My comment made before was in response to you saying he was horrible in AAA, last year, when he seemed okay to good, to me.)
  8. -19.4 UZR/150 (actually more meaningful)
  9. One areathe Sox have really slipped in is the IFA market. 2004: Doubront 2006: Dice-K & Okajima 2008: Tazawa 2009: Bogey, Montas, Iggy 2010: Aro 2011: Margot 2012: Bautista, Guerra & the Basabes 2013: Devers & DHern 2014: Moncada, Rusney, Bazardo 2015: Mata 2016: Hector Velazquez 2017: Bello 2018> basically crickets
  10. My IRA is booming. My bank account is booming. My Sox are booming. What's not to love about America?
  11. And Duran +Arroyo for Manaea + Trivino
  12. Ahhh, yes. Then Shaw and Davis are in and add DHern and Arauz. Could Fitzy make it?
  13. At the end of the year, yes. Houck.
  14. The new DFA list looks harder... 1. Arauz (now that we have Story as the back-up SS) 2. Plawecki (if we deem Wong or R Hernandez ready for the bigs) 3. Davis (out of options) 4. Bazardo or Tyler
  15. There were more between him and Scott, too- many more.
  16. Me, too, that's why I said "ask" like Correa did, too.
  17. I think Duran's offense will come around. His tinkering with his swing may have slowed the progress, some. I'm most worried about his defense. He reminds me of Ellsbury, who started out being average, at best on D, but he turned into a plus fielder after a few years.
  18. Free agency is never about true worth, but then again, Story was a FA, too. I think the Home-Away splits kept Story from getting more, and maybe his elbow injury kept his defensive value down. Maybey Bogey gets $190M/8 or $170M/7. I doubt his highest offer will be as low as $150M/6.
  19. Man, the Dodger player budget looks sick! 16 players over $7M lux tax dollars. 10 are over $12M. 8 over $17M. 5 over $21M. 4 over $27M. 3 over $30M.
  20. George Scott, too. (Wow, both happened to be black.)
  21. Close, but I'd guess no. I think he'll take $200M/8 minimum. (He'll likely ask for $280M/10.)
  22. Good points. You know me: I was the one saying offer Betts $400M/12 and am currently the leader of the "Dever Forevers Fan Club," but you are right. $30M a year is a lot for any one player. In theory, spending $10M on 3 is much less risky and allows for shorter term deals. However, that feeds into the revolving door concept and the lack of long term attachments to to favorite players on our team. It's like a lose-lose scenario. You're damned if you do and damned if you don't.
  23. It should have happened. My point was it seems like there is some sort of hint of nostalgia about keeping our best players longer, like we used to do a better job, "back in the day." I was just pointing out that there were periods where it was much worse than the last 2 decades, but of course, before Curt Flood, there was a long period where more players often spent their entire careers with one team.
  24. Wow, I nailed two in a row! I had Potts #1 on my DFA list and Rosario #2. They just DFA'd Rosario for Story. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/03/red-sox-dfa-jeisson-rosario.html
