  1. Price was the last time they paid market price for a top SP'er, but they have never "set the price" on a SP'er.
  2. They couldn't even sell out WS games back in the 70's.
  3. This team just can't find a groove.
  4. Running into outs is not helping.
  5. How many games has our starter let up 4 or more runs in one inning?
  6. But we ended up not being stuck with Dempster's salary. He graciously retired.
  7. Kluber did have one decent start (out of 4.)
  8. vs RHP Kremer 1. L Verdugo RF 2. L Devers 3B 3. R Turner DH 4. L Yoshida LF 5. R Kike 2B 6. L Casas 1B 7. L Duran CF 8. R Wong C 9. R Chang SS Time for Sale to shine!
  9. Kluber would not be any GM's choice to be axed, this early, unless is was for some phantom IL stint. Sending Bello down makes sense, but he will likely be back. I've been strongly in favor of Houck going to the pen, but we cannot afford to move our best SP'er to the pen, and Wink is handling the longman role, well. (Crawford can also do the saame.) I'd go... Sale tonight Kluber TUE Houck WED Off THU Pivetta FRI v CLE Whitlock SAT Sale SUN (+1 day rest) Kluber MON v TOR (+1) maybe Paxton will be available to piggyback Houck TUE (+1) Pivetta WED (4th gm vs TOR) Then, 3 games @PHI and 3 @ATL before the next day off. Maybe Kluber loses his slot by then (Paxton/Bello/Crawford?)
  10. Much of the "hype" he got, here, was over his plate discipline and high OBP. He has not been helped by umps, who often are tougher on rookies, but he needs to adjust to that and start swinging at borderline pitches more often, but it's a thin line. You must be thrilled to see Kike and Masa getting hot while you were away.
  11. A lot depends on who we have to replace him. Right now, a Duran/Ref platoon or even a Duran/Arroyo platoon with Kike sliding between CF and 2B looks to project better offense, but I'm not sure Casas deserves to be sent to AAA, right now. As I pointed out, his OBP has been very good over his last 9 games. I might sit him vs LHPs for awhile, and think about sending him to AAA by mid May, if he's not showing signs of improving, and the replacements are hitting well. He looked a lot more promising, last fall. I am far, far, far from "giving up on him," but we need to win, and I don't think sending a rookie down for a week or two should damage his psyche. If it does, maybe he wasn't meant for the bigs, to begin with.
  12. Chavis had 18 Hrs in his first season (382 PAs) with a .766 OPS. He was at .858 with 10 HRs in his first 165 PAs.
  13. Most players have SSS HRs. (It was after the game-winning barrage.)
  14. Last 14 Days: (EValdez at 1.000 in just 4 PAs and was demoted) .994 Duran .943 Turner .891 Dugo .870 McGuire .802 Kike .760 Devers .711 Yoshida .648 Ref .645 Changs .596 Wong .586 Dalbec (demoted) .419 Casas .229 Tapia Last 7 Days (10+ PAs) 1.049 Dugo .994 Duran .959 Kike .873 Turner .824 Yoshida .778 Chang .764 Devers .692 McGuire .600 Wong .600 Casas .522 Ref .167 Tapia
  15. Way too early, but is platooning him or sending him to AAA for a week or two "giving up on him?" How long a leash does he get? I like that he is walking more, recently, and it seems like the umps are squeezing the rookie, as they often do, but we do have other players hitting well, right now, and by benching Duran and Ref, are we giving up on them?
  16. He does have an OBP of .368 in his last 9 games (38 PAs,) but that .111 BA (.148 SLG) over that time just ain't gonna cut it. I'm not sure how much longer we can have such low production from the 1B slot. If Duran keeps hitting, maybe we move Turner to 1B, Yoshiad to DH and go with Kike, Duran & Ref in CF-LF.
  17. Rotation improvements: Houck: His ERA has improved with every start: 7.13 after 1 5.03 after 2 4.50 after 3 4.29 after 4 (4.09 last 2) Sale: 8.83 first 2 starts 5.40 last 2 (1.50 last 1 start) Whitlock: 9.13 first start 4.91 last 2 Pivetta: 7.93 first start 5.52 last 3 (4.76 last start) Bello 16.88 first start 5.79 last start Kluber: Not improving
  18. Remember how weak our OF was, last year? This year, it ranks 4th in OF fWAR at +2.8. We all know our rotation has sucked (29th in fWAR at -0.3), so far, but these three slots have hurt, too: MLB Rank 23rd SS 0.1 26th 2B -0.5 27th 1B -0.5 Our strengths: 3rd CF 1.4 4th 3B 1.2 5th DH 0.4 6th RF 1.1 7th LF 0.6 10th Pen 0.9 Middle: 14th C 0.3
  19. The one area our SP'ers have not done crappy in is IP. SP IP Leaders: 214 SDP 206 PIT 203 BOS #10 HOU 199 #15 COL 197 #20 LAA 194 #25 CWC 189 #30 DET 180
  20. My first thought was that maybe everyone they have beaten are in last place, because the Rays killed them, but I checked. They almost all suck, even if you take away the Rays games. TOR and BOS are the only 2 teams with winning records vs the "other" opps.
  21. Me, too. We've gone too long with subpar 1Bmen. Last year, they couldn't hit or field.
