  1. It's a place to drink, where your wife won't hunt you down.
  2. I would not write Turner off, just yet. While it's true his OPS has dropped for 5 straight years, it had a starting point of .945 and was still .811 from 2021-2022. He ended last season as one of baseball's hottest hitter, and it wasn't over just a month or two: he hit .868 after May 9th (102 games and 426 PAs.) He hit .942 over his last 67 games and 280 PAs. He might b e all done, but let's see how the season plays out for Justin.
  3. Tonight's Line-Up with No Duvall: 1. Kike SS 2. Devers 3B 3. Turner DH 4. Yoshida LF 5. Refsnyder CF 6. Verdugo RF 7. Arroyo 2B 8. Casas 1B 9. Wong C
  4. These old schoolers don't count walks as success.
  5. Since it's the same wrist, I'd guess more than 12. Yes, Steve Adams reports it's broken: Red Sox center fielder Adam Duvall has been diagnosed with a distal radius fracture in his left wrist, manager Alex Cora announced to reporters Monday (Twitter link via Ian Browne of MLB.com). He’ll be placed on the 10-day injured list for now, with the expectation that he’ll miss several weeks of action. The team does not yet have an exact timetable for his expected recovery. Infielder Bobby Dalbec is up from Triple-A Worcester in place of Duvall, and utilityman Rob Refsnyder is slated to start tonight’s game in center field.

  7. They did! Before 2022's season.
  8. Hockey and Soccer, if you count shots on goal vs goals.
  9. The problem with JBJ was that we always waited and waited for the "hot streak" he so often provided over his career. The guy had some of the most spectacular white hot streaks I can remember. Sometimes the length in between was unbearable, but the hope that it was coming, soon, I think kept him playing, perhaps more than he should have. Some cherry-picked time samples of JBJ's career: 2013: .395 first 43 PAs .755 last 64 (not really "white hot." 2014: .978 first 23 (not really a large sample size) .506 last 400 (a hint of long term futility, early in his career) 2015: .384 first 59 .962 last 196, including a white hot stretch of 1.361 over 102 PAs 2016: .679 first 81 .858 last 554, including 2 white hot streaks of 1.479 in 54 PAs and 1.153 in 149 (overlapping) 2017: .519 first 77 .995 middle 199 .589 last 265 2018: .503 first 142/.563 first 251 .793 last 393/ .851 last 284 2019: .421 first 125 .846 last 422, including 1.057 in a 157 stretch 2020: .593 first 82 .951 last 135 (1.008 last 71) 2021 MIL: .594 first 109 .463 last 286 2022: .730 first 35 .558 last 255 w BOS He has to be one of MLB's most streaky hitters, and almost always starting off cold.
  10. I never said the title was clickbait. I'm not sure about the article in its totality. I think you posting just this snippet seems like clickbait, to me. It is news. It is worthy of reporting. I'm just saying it was presented to elicit emotional responses based one a man's down moments in life. It seemed like clickbait, to me. Maybe trolling would be a better term. I have n o issues, at all, with you, harmony. I enjoy your posts. I don't think any less of you over this.
  11. I might rather see Chang at SS or Arroyo at SS and Dalbec at 2B than Bobby Dee at SS. What a mess!
  12. Maybe Kike to CF?
  13. Maybe Kike to CF?
  14. Word is Dalbec was sent to TB, so it looks like an IL stint, minimum. I'm not sure why waiting for X-Ray results takes hours. https://www.si.com/mlb/red-sox/news/red-sox-imply-adam-duvall-injury-may-be-significant-with-post-game-actions-scott7
  15. Juicy morsels of clickbait.
  16. Game one is the big one, and it's Pivetta's second start. Sure, winning the series is more important, but let's get these guys off their stride.
  17. It looked real bad. He's getting X-Rays.
  18. Pen Game by Game Results: Game IP/ER 1. 5.2/5 (Brasier 2/Ort 2) 2. 6.0/1 (Kelly 1) 3. 4.0/2 (Bleier 2) 4. 5.0/0 5. 4.0/1 (Wink 1) 6. 4.0/3 (Ort 2/Screiber 1) 7. 4.0/0 8. 4.0/2 (Brasier 2) 9. 4.0/0
  19. The starters lost more games for us, early on, last year than the pen, but you have a point.
  20. There are many ways to the promise land, but beating our own division makes it a lot easier (and fun.)
