  1. I waffled after he started showing marked improvement, but I'm back to square one, I guess. He's not horrific at 3B, like Kike was at SS, but it looks like it's time to move him.
  2. Casas is even worse on D than Devers.
  3. Whitlock's value already fell to 4.8, while Houck's remains at 27.5. I think Yoshida started out in the negative value column, but now he is at 17.8. If we move Devers to 1B, then Casas plays DH, Yoshida LF and Duran might be "sell high" trade bait. Or, we move Yoshida to DH and Duran to LF and trade Casas. Of course, Dugo's name has been mentioned as trade bait, too. Could Whitlock and Houck be on the list? Here is the BTV numbers: 47.5 Casas 45.7 Duran 27.5 Houck 11.3 Verdugo 4.8 Whitlock
  4. Who started, today? With decent defense, Sale likely goes 5 IP with 1 ER. BTW, I didn't say great or even "good" start; I said "decent."
  5. I try really hard to never let one game form a lasting opinion on a baseball team, but today is really pushing me hard. Of course, it's not really just this game. We've seen the pattern, all year long. There is, however, another competing pattern that has been going on all season, and that is whenever most of us start giving up on the team, they bounce back and get our hopes back up. Another pattern is us beating good teams more than we do bad teams, so I'm holding onto slivers of hopes. Just about every team we face, going forward is a winning team, and or someone we need to pass to make the playoffs. It seems near impossible to think we can win almost every series going forward, but who knows? Start by winning 2 or 3 vs NYY and LAD. Tale 4 of 7 vs HOU and we go to KCR on an 8-5 stretch (and 14-9,) which doesn't look all that great, but it also means HOU and NYY lost some games. (16-10 after KCR) Then, the real crucial stretch begins... 3 @ TBR (2-1) 3 v BAL (2-1) The SEP 15th series at TOR could be the big chance, but we need to get closer by then. 4 v NYY (3-1) 23-13 in 36 gms
  6. ...and another wasted decent start.
  7. A couple wins vs the Yanks will turn him around.
  8. How is that worse than a crappy defensive 3Bman and current crappy defensive 1Bman, too? He's not getting paid for his D. Most of his errors are throwing, so he could be a plus on D at 1B.
  9. He keeps showing flashes, some got longer and longer that kept giving me hope he could turn around his D, but then he keeps F'ing up. There are other positions on the team with worse D, but I agree. He can't play 3B. Since Casas is a poor defender at 1B, it seems like an easy choice.
  10. Jeter Downs scoring 3 runs is a knife in the back.
  11. Doesn't take but one bad day... ERA before today/ ERA after today 2.81/3.20 Wink 2.94/3.63 Murph
  12. ...and then the 3rd worst hitter on the team hits a 2 run jack.
  13. Why is Sale afraid or Jeter Downs?
  14. .808 to May 4th .705 5/5>6/14 .946 6/15>6/21 .529 6/22>6/30 .899 7/1>7/16 .714 7/17>>> or .808 to May 4th .705 5/5>6/14 .801 6/15>7/16 .714 7/17>>>
  15. Like Casas and Walter for Keller (PIT)?
  16. They did bounce back after the June swoon.
  17. All this talk of rest is making me tired.
  18. August OPS 1.050 Reyes .825 Casas .804 McGuire .796 Turner .745 Story .739 Dugo .640 Duvall .603 Wong .602 Yoshida .589 Duran .526 Urias .229 Refsnyder (What's his OPS since signing the extension?)
  19. vs well-rested pitchers. LOL
  20. I'm so thrilled all those days off kept our bats fresh and top notch. I could not resist.
  21. Dugo is not that great on D. Another idea might be to put Duran in LF and Yoshida at DH. Hope Casas can improve at 1B. Rafaela in CF would be a bg boost. Trade Dugo and others for a SP'er and find a RF'er who can play D and has a strong and accurate arm. What's with our farm system producing 1Bmen that seem okay on D in the minors but suck once they reach the bigs? I think Dalbec won defensive player of the year, once. Was that award a prank?
  22. He did have a pretty significant injury and was coming off a rehab stint, but I agree on the loss of trust. Watching the pitch location, last night: the HR pitches did not look all that bad, but it's hard to tell from a TV.
  23. 48-46 in gameds started.
  24. Nice summary. To add to this, here are our longer term commitments: $313/10 Devers (ends '33) $145/5 Sale (ends in '24 w option '25- the last big DD contract) $140M/6 Story ('27 w option '28) $90M/5 Yoshida ('12) $19M/4 Whitlock ('26) Expiring contracts after 2024: $16M Jansen $8.8 Martin Option Joely Last arbs in 2024: Dugo Pivetta
