there is a scenario where JD opts out and resigns for an overall higher $$ amount albeit less AAV. Scott Boras would 100% nudge JD to opt out if he would make more overall $$$ by signing a new contract. Boras wants the commission on the extra $$ and doesnt care if it lowers JD's AAV....

this will be a 3 game sweep. the yankees basically have a bye to the ALCS. the yanks vs astros ALCS will be the WS. whoever comes out of the NL will not have a chance vs either of these 2. lets go Stros. -
i honestly cant believe that WTF didnt have him working on 1b this past preseason. if JD doesnt opt out it will be further negligence if they dont have him converted by game 1 of 162 next year.

yes. it is a quick turnaround. 1 year. to me that is "quick".

i'm willing to throw 2020 away for the Reset + the prospects he would get us. even if we can trade JD as well. i'll take any prospects i can get right now to restock and prepare for a quick turnaround in 2021.

my premise has always been Pitching = Parades. randomness, because: baseball, crapshoot are not premises of mine when it comes to Parades.

i dont think either of those teams needed to be "significantly better" to have a parade 1 of those 2 seasons. this year would have been a parade too with Slasher9 as President of Baseball Operations. remember under my physical and mental approach to this season sale and price would not have been injured and had sub 3 ERA's.

i think he would be dumb to opt out. but never underestimate the evilness and power of scott boras. he got Manny to poison pill himself as he wasnt making a dime on the existing Sox contract and needed an extension/new deal done.

i would have to see what the return would be before signing off on this but i am definitely sitting at this table listening to offers and not opposed to dealing him (or anyone on the club for that matter). we need to restock & reset ASAP.

The day he was hired some of us posted that he will decimate the farm and that is exactly what he did. Also, if I was GM during DD’s tenure and inherited the farm and team that Ben built I would have had 3 parades during these DD years. And had Moncada going forward.

correct. and if spring training was actually utilized both physically and mentally nobody would have gotten hurt and all would have pitched to a sub 3 ERA.

yet people within the organization and embedded with the organizations keep bringing it up. Its late september and still being brought up. to me that does NOT scream "overblown".
