    i guess i just dont understand how you can believe that picking up his option is a no-brainer and also want to DFA him. they seem like complete opposite choices to me. am i misreading what you are saying?

    salty 2013: Sept/Oct: .314 BA / .945 OPS / 13 RBI / 4 SB yeah...he was really limping into the post season. i could see how someone as brilliant as you would have wanted him to not start in the post season.

    that would make you the owner. do you know what kind of PR nightmare you would be facing if you fired a manager that was recovering from the Cancer? this is a business at the end of the day.

    i think it's just immaturity. maybe if he ends up on the Sox the veterans on the team school him real quick on proper behavior?

    As far as i know he has been 100% healthy this year and has not pitched to his contract. to me that makes picking up next years option not automatic. i can understand how some would think otherwise based on some Ace+ stretches Clay has shown us over the years. i was very much on board with picking up this years option based on how well he pitched last season before yet another Clay injury. it's a bummer this year because he is not injured but he is also not shown us that Ace+ Clay. to me it was worth it to pay for the chance this season. based on his performance with said chance i do not think he has earned the automatic pickup of the 2017 option. i think at this point it is best for the team and the player to cut ties and go separate ways......

    thanks FJ. my firewall is blocking the link. can you answer on what was the cause of the swelling and the fluid? did he bang it on something? or is this something caused by "overuse"? i do NOT want to think of betts as a delicate flower but a random knee swelling and suddenly i am starting to think jacoby......

    based on what???? i think that would be a terrible move by DD to pickup that option. ***unless he goes 10-0 the rest of the season and 5-0 in the postseason resulting in a parade. then it may become a no brainer.
