Major League Baseball issued harsh penalties against the Houston Astros on Monday after a lengthy investigation into the team's use of technology to steal signs. The sanctions, according to a report from The Athletic, include one-year suspensions for Astros manager A.J. Hinch and general manager Jeff Luhnow as well as a $5 million fine and the loss of future draft picks. Here are the reported penalties: One-year suspension for general manager Jeff Luhnow. One-year suspension for manager A.J. Hinch. The loss of first- and second-round draft picks in both 2020 and 2021. A $5 million fine. The placement of former Astros assistant GM Brandon Taubman on baseball's ineligible list.

I spent 2 hours stumbling around that building trying to find Schills bloody sock. finally i asked one of the workers where the display was located....all his memorabilia was removed from the Hall and sold to help payback his Studio38 debacle. i was pizzed....

ahhh OK. i just dont consider Ortiz a "defender" at all. whether or not a "DH" should be in the Hall is a different discussion then negative defense implications IMO.

Clay is def made out of glass. but when that glass is intact he can go on a run..... if anyone is advocating counting on him for 30 starts this upcoming season well...that would be dreaming. thinking he can answer the call for 10-15 starts is a reasonable expectation and at the low $$ cost involved it should be pursued by Bloom. #nobrainer

there are a lot of players in the HoF that dont really deserve to be there. does that mean we should just continue to put unworthy players in? thats dumb. cant undue whats been done but we can certainly cease making similar errors in judgement.

i am not opposed to this idea but having a "physical" bag does give the sliding player something to hook on to and also the fielder to "find" with his feet when it's a force play. hows this for technology - My 14u team has been playing in a winter league that is strictly in a batting cage. you choose 5 players for each game. a pitching machine is set and hitter contact is analyzed by a computer tracking system and simulated results are projected onto a display. no running, no fielding. just hit the baseball and the computer tells you what you did (hit, out, gidp, sac fly, etc). ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
