    excellent point. 2003 made 2004 more unbelievable than a movie script. i have stated it since then....no fanbase of any team in any sport has ever felt the Euphoria/Pure Joy that Red Sox fans felt in October 2004. not even close.

    October 2003 was the worst moment in my life. exactly 1 year later was one of the best moments in my life. the Nats scored 8 runs at home in a deciding series game. you HAVE to win that game. that's some bad mojo they have going on right now....

    it looks like we all agree that it makes sense he was fired and it was time for JF to go. i defended him vociferously for years. ~ 2 months ago i was done with him and was fully on board with his dismissal. apparently DD and Henry agreed with me. as stated in another thread....the new manager WILL be good with the kids. we WILL see better offense from the B's next season simply because of the managerial change. add in a stanton (and/or JD) and we will run away with the division. Miami would look at a trade with Beni as the centerpiece and we can instantly insert a 100 rbi/40+ HR guy into LF and more importantly our lineup. hopefully DD take my advice and pursues this with vigor.

    he will show up to Spring Training each year and be a "special advisor". spend a month with the boys in sunny florida. not a chance he spends 162 games as a coach (head/batting/bench/whatever)

    if we use starting in June of this season as the time we want to start reigning him in: June 10: could have saved 1 inning (10 pitches) 11-3 win June 20: saved 2.1 innings (35 pitches) 8-3 win July 1: saved 1 inning (12 pitches) 7-1 win July 26: saved 1 inning (14 pitches) 4-0 win Aug 8: saved 1 inning (11 pitches) 2-0 win Aug 19: saved 1 inning (22 pitches) 3-4 loss Aug 29: saved 1+ inning (17 pitches) 3-0 win Sep 9: saved 1 inning (22 pitches) 9-0 win Sep 20: saved 3 innings (41 pitches) 9-0 win that's 12.1 innings right there without even skipping a start. that's 184 pitches. 184. those bullets would have been nice to have in October. 184. a monkey could have done this.

    i think the right manager can have a big affect on our youngsters and the production we can get out of them. having Papi around in '16 was a big help to the kids. we see what happened without him this season. with the right manager i can see a big rebound in offensive numbers from the B's....IMO.

    i dont disagree. but when you have a roster with a bunch of kids you need a manager that has high impact. i think that is a very good reason to fire farrell.
