    that is idiotic. when we handed the 20 year old the starting 3b spot with the Boston Red Sox we all signed up for the valleys that come along with it. demoting him does nothing. we agreed to allow him to suffer, adjust, suffer, adjust at the ML level. DD made that decision for us last year but it now has to be "owned". Personally i believe he will improve greatly the next couple years on the Defense side and he will absolutely learn to lay off the high FB.

    yup. pitchers never ever ever ever want to be middle middle that is where everyone's red hot zone is. anytime a pitch is there its a mistake. (unless you have a 10 run lead and are 2-0 on batter).

    Red Sox FO has never been shy throwing outgoing players under the bus. big time. if there was more to it...we would know about it. this i have no doubt.

    but it does happen. the screws really get turned at the final hours of the deadline. there are deals to be had in June/early July.

    If we had a DH (hanram) then I would consider platooning beni vs LH with JD playing the field those days. It would have limited Hanley’s AB’s to LHP starters only keeping him from vesting. Rookie manager talking veteran GM into that DFA may hurt us...

    I wouldn’t pay what he is going to demand in both years and AAV. I would move on from him after 2018 season ends. But I keep him for the pennant run this year and the chance for a parade. Unless we are out of it come the end of July...
