  1. Duran, Rafaela, and Story have the three most total bases--187, 160, and 158--on the team. Story now leads tjhe Sox in rbi's with 61.
  2. I honestly don't like Cora making Rafaela play 2b, but I understand why (get more lefty bats in the lineup) and agree completely with your point. Rafaela and Narvaez have the two highest WAR's, 4.0 and 3.2, on the team because both are terrific on defense and can hit.
  3. Terrific win. Sox finish the three NL Division leaders gauntlet at 4-5. Terrific bullpen, smart managing, timely hitting, and solid defense.
  4. The Sox team Ortiz joined in 2003 already had some pretty good hitters.
  5. Of course he was lucky. But in his 3 other starts in July he went 7 IP vs the Phillies and gave up 1 ER, 6 vs the Rays giving up 3 ER's, and 5 vs the Nats giving up 2 ER's. That's not bad for a #4 starter even though he was awful and awfully lucky today.
  6. Could have been a lot worse with those 5 BB's, 4 hits, and the dinger. He had horrible control, but did not put the Dodgers out of reach.
  7. Toro ran to 1b in part because Buehler was slow to get there.
  8. 4 walks in 3 IP by Buehler. Lucky to have given up just 1 run.
  9. Buehler is perfectly balanced so far--25 strikes and 25 balls.
  10. Abreu has an excellent launch angle but horrible contact with the ball. He's swinging for the fences every single time.
  11. Duran stunk on the error, but it didn't cost a run thanks to Narvaez weak grounder for 3d out. Nice sac fly by Story.
  12. If he can get 3.3 more for the rest of the season, he's at 8, which is pretty darn good. Last year Sale won the NL Cy Young with a WAR of 6.2.
  13. He's a lefty bat with half his games at Fenway with its deep RF. His OPS this month is .900 and would likely be a lot lower if the tinkered with his swing to get more dingers.
  14. I give the edge to the Sox because Buehler seems to be coming back and because May's ERA in away games is 7.00 Last night was a terrific win. Duran in CF, Anthony in LF, and Abreu in RF vs righty May. Rafaela @ 2b, Yoshida DH, Toro 1b. 5 lefty bats and 4 righty bats.
  15. I know. I am hard pressed to think of another sport, mens or womens, in which either gender routinely wears gold necklaces.
  16. I am pretty sure his lousy hitting is the cost of moving him to SS.
  17. Too bad about Aaron Judge. I know he's a Yankee, but he is great for MLB and absolutely not a jerk. Machado in another ruckus. Er ist shmutzig.
  18. 3 excellent outs by Whitlock, 3 scary outs by Chapman. Terrific win!. After the 1st inning, I figured the Sox would lose easily, but didn't get the chance to say so. Anthony struck out 4 times last night and had a double, a single, and 2 BB's today. Gotcha. You are rooting for the Sox. Sox got a shot tomorrow. I know it's Buehler, but the Dodgers starter, May, has an ERA of 7.00 on the road.
