  1. WEEI guys talking a lot about the Commish's dictum on foreign substances on the ball. Cora told them the pitchers know it's a big deal.
  2. Come on, already. I was being facetious.
  3. Theoretically, this week begins a whole new era in MLB. The Jays still can't play home game because Canada won't let American teams cross the border, not even by air. That's nothing, however, to the degree from Rob Augustus Caesar Manfred's that all MLB pitchers will stay clean and not besmirch the baseballs they throw.
  4. I had no idea you were this high on Santana. I agree he's versatile in the field and good on the bases, but his hitting leaves something to be desired.
  5. Verdugo and Devers struggling against this particular lefty.
  6. Amazing start to the game, what with Eovaldi getting thru the 1st on 6 pitches and Hernandez's 2 run dinger in the 2d. Enrique a little slow getting that single/double to CF, however.
  7. It turns out my theory was a little early. Enforcement won't begin until Monday, 2 days from now. So it is entirely possible the dictum will be enforced, which would wipe out my theory. As for the pitchers, I agree with bellhorn they will have no choice but to comply/adjust.
  8. Sox have hit a lot of hard shots today for outs.
  9. WEEI guys say the gap between AAA and MLB has never been bigger, so it's hard to be sure when to bring guys up.
  10. Nope. I don't expect a hit every game. I expect a hit every at bat.
  11. Perez gets another call on an outside pitch and the WEEI guys ignore it.
  12. Nice play by Perez! ERod never, ever makes a play like that because he finishes his pitches falling toward 3b. He has been known to be late getting to 1B.
  13. The WEEI broadcast team does not have access to the TV version of the strike zone that we have. So they regularly make bad calls on where the ball went. They also say that Keller is getting the corners because Perez frames the pitches so well. But to me Perez is getting as many calls as Keller.
  14. What is it with these very hard swings by Devers? At least once he swung so hard he went to his knee or would have gone all the way down
  15. Evidence of this game notwithstanding. I think he is lucky to have lasted to the 5th and sure wouldn't want someone with a 6.37 ERA as the Sox ace. You may, but not me.
  16. WEEI team is saying Santana looks completely overmatched. Hard to disagree with that.
  17. Santana is a dipstick. That ball was an easy catch for Renfroe, but Santana just had to turn it into something hard.
  18. What's with Devers? He used to swing hard at the ball, but today he looks almost like he wants to bunt. Two very, very easy back to back innings for Keller.
  19. Strangely enough, I agree with you. Right now I'm not at all sure the Commish's dictum is having any effect.
