  1. Devers, his giant wad of tobacco, and his slumps (hitting and fielding) seem to go well together.
  2. Nice DP, much needed.
  3. Looks like everything ERod is throwing is hittable.
  4. Schwarber has not shed his White Sox blues.
  5. ERod, L vs. Gilbert, R Kike CF Schwarber 1B Bogey SS Devers 3B JDM DH Verdugo LF Renfroe RF Vazquez C Iggy 2B Sox going with 3 lefty bats and for them a decent defensive lineup--except for Schwarber at 1b instead of Dalbec. Mariners with 6 righty bats, including one switch hitter, Toro AL race for the two wild card slots is as Titus Andronicus.

  7. All things considered, I thought the Sox played well but Chicago played better, especially in the rubber game. Once again, I thought Cora managed the impossible well.
  8. Agree completely. This is on Plawecki, whom I regularly defend/tout.
  9. Meh. You want bad at bats, take a look at Schwarber all day today and throughout the Chicago series.
  10. Not if they watch the video of Schwarber in this series.
  11. The fault, dear Brutus, is not with the ump, but with our team, who are underlings.
  12. If you are watching on TV, you will notice that Verdugo's strike zone--the top line--is at his belt or a tad below it.
  13. Devers gets a walk! Devers gets a walk!! The Giants win the pennant!! The Giants win the pennant!!
  14. Meh. I'd take Schwarber over JDM, but the problem for Bloom is that he has to keep JDM.
  15. This is a game thread. We all know Schwarber has been a big boost to the lineup, but in this series, not just this game, he has hurt his team. You ain't great if you ain't great, and today Schwarber is far from great.
  16. Correction. He also uses that slider to get a wild pitch.
  17. How in the wide, wide world of sports did Ottavino get to be a closer? He has one pitch, a fastball, plus a cutter he throws when he wants a wild pitch.
  18. 3d time through the order is dicey for any Sox pitcher although Pivetta was sabotaged by Kike and then Schwarber.
  19. Chicago getting a lot of mileage out of one single.
  20. Probably. Whoops, there goes another rubber tree plant, by which I mean Schwarber's 3d K of the day and 6th K of the series. He is also hitless in the series.
  21. Great throw, but Iglesias makes it if he actually slides to the base instead to the left of the bag.
  22. Would be nice if Pivetta could go 7, but we all remember that he had a no-hitter going when Cora pulled him with 6 2/3 innings gone.
