  1. No. They are just trying to spread a little happiness around to both hitters and fielders.
  2. Agree. Yoshida is a good fit in LF. And slow on the bases. But also a very professional hitter.
  3. RF turned out to be perfect for him, as we saw last year. Plus he can hit. A keeper.
  4. Martin does the job!! For my money, send him back out for the 9th. (Dream on, dipstick.)
  5. OK. That was grand larceny right there. Martin threw 5 straight cutters and got the K.
  6. Yoshi ain't fast, but he knows what he's doing.
  7. Winck got lucky for out #3. He got hit hard. Not sure I want to see him back out for the 8th.
  8. Cora has done well with who he has sent to the mound today and for how long. Nice plays by Turner and Winck. I like Casas better for fielding throws in the dirt, but definitely prefer Turner on grounders and on throws to the pitcher covering first.
  9. Terrific single by Duran!!! Righty vs lefty helped, but he hit that hard and brought home lucky run #7!.
  10. Guess what, sports fans. We are not playing this game in the freaking Trop!!! Way to go, Sox!!!!!
  11. But that's the way Duran is in some at bats. You know I'm right because we've both seen it.
  12. Rays pitchers are not afraid to work the corners.
  13. Interesting. Beeks throws 4 straight 4-seamers for balls to McGuire (also known as Wright) and now two straight changeups to Reyes for balls. Huge single by Reyes!!!!!!!
  14. You picked the wrong time to sing this song. Duran was not going to hit Kelly, period. Also, the Rays do a much, much better job of working the edges of the strike zone than do the Sox pitchers. The home plate ump today has made a bunch of good calls on close ones.
  15. Duran was dead meat the instant he stood in the batter's box. He had two pitches in the middle of the strike zone--one he let go by and the other he swung on and missed by a mile.
  16. Looks like Pivetta will start the 2d game. Kluber looks like the same ace we've been rooting for all season long.
  17. Meh. It wasn't that far off. Plus I doubt that it made a difference. Kelly had his number.
  18. Duran looked completely helpless--and has looked that way too often lately. Yes, it was a sweeper he swung on and missed, but it was near the middle of the strike zone.
  19. Casas is talking a blue streak to Duran. Not sure I like that.
  20. So, in comes the righty to pitch to Ref, and out of the dugout comes Duran. It's only the 5th inning, but it's a 4-1 game, the Sox have 2 on base and a real opportunity.
  21. I think the Rays do this more than anyone else. Start a righty against all those lefty bats, then go to a lefty in the 3d inning. Also this. The Sox finally score one run, and the Rays have a lengthy conference on the mound with 1 out, a man on first, and Devers coming to the plate. Devers gets his pitch, a sinker in the middle and hits a chopper to 3b for the ground out to get the lead runner.
  22. My guess is the Sox will consider Mayer for starting SS next year primarily for his defense and hope he can adapt to MLB pitching over time. He can definitely hit.
