  1. Tough grab by Cooper on that toss by Hamilton.
  2. What's the horrible expression? Disrespected. Rafaela is definitely disrespected by the Twins pitching staff.
  3. Absolutely. That was definitely a passed ball. Shame on Wong. Terrific at bat by Abreu, who just couldn't hit those fastballs, so he just tapped that changeup that was in fact a ball.
  4. Agree both are assets. I prefer Wong because he's obviously a better athlete.
  5. Really? According to his bio, he's lived in Japan his entire life until last year or this year. Of course, nothing would have prevented him from learning English in Japan, but reportedly it's very difficult to learn English if you grow up Japanese. Anyway, I believe you. However, I still don't think McGuire's trip to the mound helped. Nor did his errant throw to center field.
  6. Of course they are. Big bucks for pitchers who immediately are injured and out for a year or more are just stupid.
  7. Actually, I like Rafaela. I'm just pissed off about the game and especially Mr Stupid McGuire.
  8. Speaking of stupid, that's how Rafaela looked in his latest at bat. Three called strikes for the K.
  9. McGuire is an idiot. First he gambles on a very tough play, one that is clearly not part of his repertoire, and brings home the 2d Twins run without getting an out. Then he does his best to screw up Uwasawa's concentration by first insisting his glove is broken and second by going out to the mound to talk gibberish--I'm positive he is not fluent in Japanese--to Uwasawa and throw him even further off. moonslav's CERA stats are complete bs. Wong is a much better catcher than McGuire.
  10. Grissom's throw to start the DP was right on the button.
  11. Twins have hit Houck's 94 mph sinker hard.
  12. Short throw to 1b also a problem for Grissom.
  13. Hmmmm. Grissom can't catch a perfect throw to 2b.
  14. Devers' double mixed in with a flock of weak hitters meant zero runs.
  15. Very unlikely, I'd say. Sox have been lucky this year with so few injuries.
  16. This was a very sensible lineup. Cora is simply out of control. I will probably have to call him again.
  17. If you went to high school, you were told about subject-verb agreement. It's true in English and in other languages as well.
  18. Ahem. Jordan Montgomery is getting paid $25M this year for pitching--so far--a total of 16 innings with an ERA of 5.63. Forget what Boras did or failed to do. The Diamondbacks are idiots.
  19. All good points, but you blew subject-verb agreement.
  20. Grissom has reportedly recovered from the flu and traveled with the team. However, with Valdez back in Worcester, Hamilton could get the nod with his lefty bat. His OPS vs righties is .669.
  21. Houck vs. Paddack, both righties, big advantage to Sox However, Twins are on 10 game winning streak--but 7 of those were against the woebegone 6-25 White Sox, worst team in MLB. Sox are 11-5 on the road and 7-9 in Boston. I see this lineup for tonight-- Duran CF Devers 3b Refsnyder LF O'Neill DH Abreu RF Wong C Smith 1b Grissom or Hamilton, 2b Rafaela SS
  22. Back in Shakespeare's time, it was considered erudite to be able to spell the same word differently. You have become erudite in your spelling of O'Neill's name. I've crossed Casas's name off my list of good hitters because I don't seem him coming back very soon, nor do I expect him to hit as well. Refsnyder is 33 and his lifetime OPS is .693, so I think he will regress to his mean. Nevertheless, like you, I think the Sox lineup might just become decent. Team OPS, .743, is 6th best in MLB.
