  1. Let me know how it goes or what you did to make it work. I tried everything to no avail.
  2. How goes it S5?!?!?!! Good to see you here my friend! The format here is WAY better than at the BDC but yes....there is a learning curve as I am still finding out. I think you'll enjoy it here. I'm done at BDC.....it wont let me log in so I never had a chance to say goodbye!
  3. Agreed Yaz. If Hanley has earned anything in his career, it's his offensive play. He has pretty much always been a pretty big force with the bat.....he's more than earned a longer leash at the plate than many others. He'll be fine.
  4. Gotcha! No worries!
  5. I was agreeing with you.......not sure what you're disagreeing with. I said this: he makes some very odd in-game decisions I simply do not think that a team that has won 4 in a row and is .5 games behind 1st place should even consider firing the manager. I said if they were going to do that (and I think they SHOULD have) then it should have happened this past offseason. "That doesn't mean we can't criticize Farrell in a forum created for baseball discussion," I know how forums work and never said we shouldn't criticize and suggest.....I was sharing my point of view which is what a forum is for.
  6. Agree 100%. I've actually been on Farrells side a bit more this season than normal. While yes....he makes some very odd in-game decisions.......he didn't blow 3 saves, he didn't give up a grand slam to lose a game, he didn't slump in the leadoff spot for the first 10 games, he didn't pitch horribly for a few starts when you're supposed to be the Ace. Players get the credit when the team does well......managers often get the blame when the team does bad. I don't think that's fair. Would I have preferred to have Lovullo as the manager to start the season?? Yes........do I think that Farrell has done anything to cost him his job this year?? No...... If there was a chance to make a managerial change it was during the offseason. That could have been a PR disaster with Farrell and his cancer scare.....they stayed the course and so far things really have not been too bad. Having the 7th best record in all of MLB really is a pretty good thing.
  7. I think if you search around here, other forums and in the media.....SOME people pretty much talk about Farrell like he is the worst manager ever. Max was simply saying that in an exaggerated manner to drive a point home. I don't think his intention is to put a blanket statement out there that everyone hates him and thinks he's evil......
  8. It's not hindsight.....it's striking when the iron is hot. Catcher was not a huge area of need......Pitching, pitching and some pitching was an are of need......and still is.
  9. Exactly!!!! I was almost begging the Sox to trade him after the 2014 season when his stock was high. He actually according to scouts, took big strides behind the plate. Anybody that knew anything at that time KNEW that he still would never come close to Vaz. Keep in mind.....I want this trade before Vaz tore his elbow and I have a great amount of respect for what Swi did last year. I just think the Sox need to start dealing from an area of strength for an area of need more.
  10. This is why I have said a bazillion time (yes......this is about to go off topic but it will come full circle by the end) that Swihart SHOULD have been trade a while ago when he was a top 20 prospect. He was that high because of offense. Thats all well and good....but the REAL importance of the C position is what we are talking about; calling a game, pitcher comfort zone, holding runners on, leader of the IF, framing pitches etc........all things that Swihart has NEVER been known for. Vaz should be the fulltime catcher for a long time. Tek was the MAN when it came to those things. When it came to being a CATCHER.....there were none better (other than throwing runners out.......not the best gun). Tek WILL be the Manager of the Sox sooner rather than later because of these things.
  11. I tried to log back on to say good bye to people for the last few days but it wont let me SF67. No idea what's happening but that place is toast. This place is great!
  12. Hehehehehe........... as you know Emp.....that was tough for me to write! Good to see you here!!!!!!!
  13. I hear ya....but when it comes to offense I give Hanley a long leash. Other than last year his offense is usually near the top of the league in multiple categories......at this point it's a proven track record. He'll turn it around at the plate ........if he stays healthy
  14. With the money that Lovullo signed for.....that's not bench coach $$$$.....he WILL be the manager at some point. Right now the SOx are doing decent. It's not Farrells fault Kimbrell gave up 3 saves, Price had 2 lousy starts, Buch is a mess and Betts started slow...... However, he is KILLING the BP right now. I hope to God that Smith comes back soon and Kelly when healthy goes to the BP where I said he should be when we first got him in trade.....
  15. ^^^^^ THIS!!!!!! I was so sick of hear how Hanley was a cancer and his teamates hated him......yet not ONCE did you see or hear anything from the team that actually showed that. While he was not good last year....from everything I saw, he played pretty hard in the field, he just was horrible there. I was VERY AGAINST him moving to 1B.....but so far he has made me eat crow. If he continues this then in all honesty....I think we have our 1Bman for the next few years. Why move him to DH if he plays a good 1B? I'd use the DH spot to give Shaw, Hanley and Panda a rest with Panda using much of the time there......if he's not traded......which I hope to (*&^ he is!
  16. Thanks for the welcome! You all have been great! As for this poll.......I like what I'm seeing from the team as of late but tempering thins a bit because they are playing the worst team in the league and are about to play another bad team in the Yanks. However....you have to play your schedule. The next 20 games will be a GREAT time for the Sox to get a bunch of wins and get this team at the top of the division. Hopefully Smith and E-Rod come back soon to take some pressure off the pitching staff.
  17. I don't. Swihart's appeal was that he was ok/decent behind the plate but his hit tool was above average.....FOR A CATCHER. He was seen as a .275 15hr 60rbi guy.....which is very good for a catcher. Is that good for a 3B or 1B??? I really don't think so. Converted players to a new position like 1B/3B with that stat line are a dime a dozen. I actually think his stock will drop. If he can show that he can call a good game and get his pitchers full confidence and handle the entire staff....as well play average to slightly above average Defense.....his stock would be MUCH higher then as a 3B/1B. Of course if he becomes that.....then I doubt we trade him in the first place! I still think we should though......Vaz is already one of the best defensive catchers in the league and he already has the pitching staffs confidence. Catcher is not an area of need.....pitching is so I pull the trigger.
  18. Good to see you here Bosox!!!!!! Keep posting here.....you have a great wealth of knowledge and great sense for the game!!!
  19. I agree.......Babe is a diehard Yankee fan so I was ribbing him. In all honesty though.....I think we Sox fans tend to bite too much on the 'Jeter being an average fielder' mantra. The guy played an EXCELLENT SS. Yes.....he did not have good range but any play he could get to....he made..... He had a lot of chances too playing behind a lot of ground ball pitchers. Do I think he deserved 5 GG's? Nope.......but 2 of them he played excellent defense and I feel he was deserving of them.
  20. Wait........Bernie Williams was a VERY GOOD fielder and won 4 GG's......and Jeter won 5 GG's. Are you saying that they weren't good fielders? Or that they didn't deserve the awards because the media only recognizing NY players?? Hmmmmmmmmm........you may be on to something.....
  21. We were asked to not bring 'other board squabbles' over here Babe. Please respect that.
  22. Awesome to see Flap, Tom, Illinois, Yaz and Exam show up!!!!!!! The band is getting back together!!! I've been posting here a lot the last few days. It's an excellent community, I think you all will like it very much.
  23. Good to see you here Yaz!!!! Agree with what you said. GW hits are HUGE and should count a bit more......not sure what formula to use for that but it certainly should be considered. I was at first against this whole thing last year Slash......but I gotta admit.....it actually is pretty fun to see the final outcome and makes things a bit more interesting......so I'll my negativity on this one! Keep up the good work my friend!
  24. Agree. The Sox have right now EXCELLENT up the middle defense which is pretty much the best thing to have in the field. If JBJ and Vaz can hit .240, the runs that they SAVE in the field will more than make up for any possible deficiencies at the plate.
