  1. I was stunned when they showed the stats that the Sox are one of the highest scoring teams late in the game. Sure didn't seem right to me. I recall a ton of games where they went into the 9th down 4-1 and just laid down and headed for the bus. Do you recall a lot of late inning comebacks?
  2. Good to see the bats finally waking up. I had to believe Durbin wasn't this bad. Duran is another matter but spanking the Yankees is always a good time. Starting pitching has been tremendous this season, as has the improved defense. Yankees every time I see them play just don't make plays that are there, and commit a lot of errors. Allowing a runner to score from 3rd on a 160 foot fly out was embarrassing. Almost as bad as when Yoshida was unable to score from third when the first basement conceded the run because he had a 1 step lead off third. That was the low point in the season for me. I have no idea why the Yanks have been trotting out Volte for several seasons. Every time I see him play he sucks.
  3. He's half way there and it's June 18. I think there is a great chance he gets there, Hell if he's close they can always utilize him in a non-save situation to get to that 40 inning mark. He has enormous value but he is also one of the few reasons to watch this team and I'd hate to see him go. He is a badass.
  4. It was my understanding that if he pitched 40 innings and passed a physical at the end of the season his contract extends to 2027.
  5. What a terrible place they find themselves in. If they trade Contreras and Chapman they have pretty much punted 2027, if it happens. But they should obviously be sellers at the deadline.
  6. I'm wondering if there will ever be a 2027 season. Getting the players to agree to any form of a salary cap will be a huge hurdle.
  7. I'm confused on the Theo thing. Just what is his role? He has no interest in running a team again? That's a shame, I'm pretty confident he could right this sinking ship.
  8. I was stunned when I saw that he was starting. Why mess with something that was working? No I would have continued to trot out bodies until they found someone capable of getting 3 outs in the first inning, Bello was nearly lights out in his role. We put this decision with the clown show that is the 3rd base coach and it is clear to me that we are being run by amateurs.
  9. Contreras has not been the problem, he has also made our infield defensive far stronger. We should be discussing other players.
  10. This team is unwatchable. I was never high on Mayer, he never showed me can hit major league pitching and he may never hit major league pitching. Just so f'ing depressing. We needed Early to be lights out, which of course is ridiculous. I knew he wasn't sharp when his first pitch was 93 and was as in the middle of the plate you can get. But he was not the problem, the same old problem was the problem.
  11. Last night showed what is so great about sports: You never really know what's going to happen. Looking back at the first page the posters never expected this team to hang up 9 runs, nobody did.
  12. I backed up that ball Wong hit a number of times. I'm convinced the angle that made it look like the ball disappeared over the wall was simply an angle where the ball was not visible against the yellow background. The angle from home plate shows it hitting the top of the yellow line and bouncing back in play. Poor Connor, thought the HR drought had ended.
  13. Because he has been good as a set up man and I don't trust anyone else in that roll. What's the point in getting to the late innings with a lead if you are going to trot out Weissert in the 8th?
  14. After seeing so many of our top prospects fail to deliver in the Bigs I am struggling to get excited at our players in the minors.
  15. This Bello thing is fascinating to witness, he is the pitcher we all were hoping for right now. But it is just so frustrating that they can't find a body who can get 3 outs to start the game. You can't burn Whit in that role, this bullpen depth is pathetic. Where the f*** is Roman Anthony??????,
  16. Yeah is sure was good to see the old Duran back, hope it continues. I can't believe the Sox are 2 games out of the wild card, that's just so bizarre. Chapman has been the man but he hung a splitter right over the heart of the plate on that final out. And David Hamilton will always suck.
  17. What is killing this team is the lack of production from so many of their top prospects. We all know that prospects miss at the major league level. But I don't think this organization expected to get nothing out of Campbell, Mayer and Anthony to date as recently as a year ago. Hell I'll even throw in Casas as it wasn't that long ago that they saw him as a potential key contributor. I think player development is still a major issue with this team.
  18. Such a shame this team has such good starting pitching and has gone from one of the worst defenses in baseball to one of the best and they still suck. So relieved they didn't let that win get away last night, that would have been devastating. But the error was costly, I'm going to assume we have lost Chapman for today.
  19. I don't think you can blame the front office for Duran hitting .178. These are professional athletes, they need to perform up to expectations and most of them are failing big time.
  20. I guess I did too because I didn't want him traded. When he gets on base he can change games, I didn't want to give up on a player like that.
  21. To me this was the big development of the season. After the WBC we pretty much all expected big things. He was terrible and now he is hurt. Again. I sure didn't see that coming.
  22. Yeah we all knew this all winter, this is not a surprise although I didn't see last place They were counting on much more from players like Anthony and of course Duran. Both have given them nothing and that was not expected. But it was a poor plan from the start, what a shame we are wasting such a good starting staff. And now with the Bello thing looking more promising, as weird as it is, the staff just got stronger.
  23. Too close for me at the end but Chapman did indeed dial it up midway through the Harper at bat. But man this team is borderline unwatchable. When will Duran finally get it going? We have too large of a sample size to believe he is this now.
  24. Connerly Early knows how to pitch. It was a pleasure watching him work the zone last night. Whit and Chapman are the only pen arms I trust. Trevor Story can't get out of here fast enough, one of my least favorite players of all time. How many more LOBs did he have last night? Get this guy out of here.
