Honestly, I much prefer the Napoli we are seeing right now. He's more disciplined at the plate and works counts. Yes, he had a bunch of RBIs early in the season but it really was all or nothing at that point. I think he serves us much more the way he hits right now.
Yes, that was an abysmal call. But what about Farrell's decision to put Bailey in the 7th inning of a close game? That was worse in my opinion. Bullpen management has been horrendous in general today.
And yesterday further illustrated why the Win/Loss stat is just plain stupid. Bailey allowed game-tying HR in the 9th while Doubront pitched 8 shutout inning and yet, the former, not the latter, is credited with the win.
Mmh... haven't seen the replay but honestly it didn't look like he was even close to being safe. I might be wrong though.
I'd be extremely careful if I was Bailey, with Jones and Davis coming up. If he gets through those two without two much damage however, it's in the bag.
Eh true, it'd have probably been a hit if the ball had landed closer to the line. But still, why bunt in that situation? 3-1 count, nobody out and a runner at second....
