  1. Yup. Same team that is barely hanging on to a playoff wild card spot while every other team involved improved. Think the FLOPS are a playoff team this year?
  2. Thanks. I know it wasn't a popular opinion before the deadline but I wasn't willing to give up anything significant for a futile run this year. The future really is bright I believe. We have promising youngsters and a genuine ace along with good complementary players. There is also money available this offseason if Henry opens up his wallet. There are also promising players in the minor league who are ours now. Glad we didn't trade them away. Now all that is left is for us to TANK which I believe will come naturally now that the players know that management has no faith in them. We will likely finish ahead of the Orioles and MAYBE the Rays, but there will be no joy in Mudville this October. Again.
  3. This is a smack in the face for the players. THEY know the team needed more. Its a vote of NO CONFIDENCE on the part of management. Watch them tank now, which is actually the smart thing to do.
  4. That is what I have advocated for over the past several weeks. And I don't remember who here said he would surrender his first born male son if the Sox were done after getting Matz (sorry: May doesn't even register) but I am waiting.......he'll get his own bedroom
  5. Well its 3:01 now and the deadline is up. Henry has clearly stated that his expectations for this team are the same as mine: not real contenders, not this year. He got an also-ran SP and a mediocre RP for someone who was never going to make it on the ML team while every other contender improved. It would have been much smarter to have been sellers. This sends a clear message to the players: not ready for prime time. I doubt we will make the playoffs now.
  6. Just what we need! We are SAVED: Dustin May: 6-7, ERA 4.85, WHIP 1.35. Richard Fitts is better: 3.79, 1.30 How can we lose now? Five minutes left and we got a mediocre RP for a guy we were going to lose anyway and Dustin May, maybe. I can hardly wait to hear the excuses.
  7. Sure they did. Like they went after Lester and Mookie "very hard".
  8. This franchise is a disgusting joke. Henry has to sell the team. Otherwise we will all live this over and over again, year after year.
  9. Yeah. Been there done that. The Flops are "very interested in Ryan"....what a joke.
  10. And likely will stay that way as far as the Flops are concerned.
  11. About an hour left. Nearly every other contender has made a significant move to improve and all the Flops have done is trade away a player they were going to lose anyway for a marginal RP. Fine with me. They don’t have the talent to do much this year anyway. But they should have been sellers.
  12. The only thing they’re done so far is trade away a player we were going to lose anyway for a mediocre reliever.
  13. Last year they played it in between going all in and doing nothing or selling. I think they’re doing the same thing-making the same mistake-again.
  14. I have a feeling that we’re done. Matz is it. That would say to me that Henry has the same opinion of this team I have-that they’re not worth wasting a trade of any of our prospects or players in a futile attempt to make them competitive.
  15. I know. But the team has good medical personnel (sometimes) and expecting the worst possible case scenario isn't where I am at. I expect he will follow the course of most people with his injury. Like you said, we'll see.
  16. I'll accept your wager if we define it as being ready to get on the baseball field, at the very least for a rehab assignment a year from his injury, May 4. I could also live with him getting on a baseball field by opening day 2026 whenever that is, though its slightly less than a year. We would donate the $100 to our favorite charity. You win and I donate it to your favorite charity; I win and you donate $100 to my favorite charity. Deal?
  17. Your expectations are not supported by the medical literature, overall. It’s just a baseless opinion-to which you’re entitled. I am. It aware of any significant injuries he’s had besides the rib and the knee. He had shoulder bursitis in 9/23 but that’s a relatively minor injury. Any others? He might not be ready for ML ball by opening day but I’d bet he’ll be ready to get on the field for rehab no later than a year from his date of injury-May 4. That’s what the medical literature tells us. And if he could slim down my guess is that he could reduce the chances of future injuries.
  18. https://www.mymosh.com/orthopedics/what-you-should-know-about-patellar-tendon-tears/ About a year from the date of the injury is realistic. To assume otherwise is awfully…….pessimistic 😬
  19. There’s more money available if Henry wants to spend it. Middle third in team salary for a big market team isn’t acceptable.
  20. You don’t know that. The medical literature I reviewed FOR THIS INJURY says 6-12 months. Your “slow healer” assumption I presume is based on his rib cage injury. That’s a different injury. Based on medical literature I’d assume he’ll be back around opening day. There’s no rational reason to assume otherwise.
  21. Define “around opening day” and I’ll think about it
