    The current need is the same as the need over the winter. Perhaps you recall me writing that this team could potentially compete for a ring if a very good RHH was added-maybe two. I what by not fulfilling that need we would essentially be wasting a year where we can compete. The need is still there.

    DH can be rotated to give the guys at least a partial day off. You can take your pick who gets called up. I doubt they could do much worse than Duran.

    I'd put Yoshida in LF. At least he can hit the baseball. Jones can also play OF.

    I thought he had more. Then what is keeping them from demoting him? Its overdue.

    Duran would have to approve an option to the minor leagues because he has at least five years of service. I don't think he would do that.

    Right, but the point is that Siegler has been an upgrade over all those guys. His presence makes 2B a lower priority for upgrade. If we can get a 2B man who hits for power Siegler could move to SS perhaps-but I’d still rather upgrade SS (and catcher). And get rid of Duran. Not sure how many innings the younger pitchers are limited to this year. You certainly don’t want to ruin their careers by pushing them too far.

    He’s proven that he’s someone that deserves a longer look at the very least. Catcher and SS are the most pressing needs. Yes, SS are going to be expensive. But it’s a recognized need and they shouldn’t go in half assed if they are buyers. There’s no point to that. Picking up a mediocre SS would be stupid.

    How much of the .630 OPS at 2B is because Mayer was there? Siegler is at .737/108. He’s a keeper. SS is in need of an upgrade.

    Anthony is going to be fine if he ever gets healthy. I’ve said so from the beginning. He has excellent recognition of the strike zone and can hit with power. You could get an early start and begin applauding him now.

    We need a good RHH so Jeffers could fit the bill. However we already have two catchers so we would need to get rid of one of them-which is probably a good plan. We have a few other guys who can catch too. Lowe is a LHH so he’s lower (so to speak) on my list. The OF seems set unless we can dump Duran. I doubt anyone would take him and provide any return at all. I like our IF except that Monasterio could be replaced by a better hitter. If they want to be buyers it’s swapping catchers and a SS with power like Neto.

    No, but you no doubt THOUGHT it when we were 14 games below water. If people here are being honest no one thought we could be buyers around now. The team looked absolutely lost. They sucked. Sonny Gray admitted as much in an interview. Well now they are on a roll. They will NOT play this well for the rest of the year. No team does. A few weeks ago I was STRONG SELL. Now its more like 50/50-but DO NOT hedge and pick up some irrelevant players and claim you are improving the team. Either sell or buy, but go all in, one way or the other.

    Not sure if these guys have enough talent to be a contender even if they get healthy and get another bat or two but at least they have become a fun team to watch. They weren’t worth watching for months. Now they are.
