  1. There really should be a choice called "incomplete". He has not been on the job long, and ownership has given him NO MONEY to play with. Hard to make improvements that way.
  2. Unfortunately, I am no longer allowed to post humorous pictures here. I think some humor to lighten the mood in that manner would be a good addition, but alas, the mod will fire me if I do it.
  3. With all due respect VA, while the discussion was between you and 700 everyone who reads this thread is reading what you two are posting. Its not about baseball, and at times that kind of stuff dominates pages here. IMO we are probably better off restricting it to a post or two at most.
  4. Most people here in general are decent. In fact, without naming names, I can think of only one "Youngblood" that still needs to grow up.
  5. Don't get too used to it
  6. I am going to give Crawford the benefit of the doubt. I know he is one of the hardest working guys on the team during the offseason. I remember reading once about his workout routine; it is very demanding. Its not like he is not giving it everything he has. He is going to have a good comeback year. How's that for being negative?
  7. Immature jerks like him are best ignored, either with the ignore button or manually, Fred. One day he might grow up and become an adult. We were all his age once and we all did and said some really stupid things. Fortunately, you and I and most everyone else in the world who were kids has matured and can carry on a discussion like adults. This guy does not yet have that ability. I generally ignore what he writes.
  8. Irrelevant. Did you like the post I did where the ESPN analyst ranked the Sox farm system at #18? What you think about the quality of my posts could not concern me less. I do not post the kind of unsubstantiated drivel here that some people like to write.
  9. Check the rankings again in a few weeks. Chances are they will be much different. There is no one truth to them; everyone has an opinion. I am concerned at the lack of good pitching there. Position players are easier to get and cheaper than good pitching, overall.
  10. I find it hard to believe that that is the only reason Francona wasn't hired. I do not find it hard to believe that Henry didn't want to give him a recommendation though. I would not have given him a good one either.
  11. This is from Feb 8, 2012, by Keith Law, ESPN analyst: Keith Law of ESPN has released his farm system rankings. You need an ESPN Insider subscription to see anything besides the fact that former Red Sox assistant general manager Jed Hoyer, with help another former Sox staffer in Jason McLeod, brought the Padres to first overall, but we can at least give you a taste of it. It's absolutely worth reading the whole thing, of course, to get a sense of where the rest of the league is. The Red Sox rank 18 out of 30 -- not too shabby, considering they lack any kind of elite talent at the upper levels thanks to trades for Victor Martinez, Adrian Gonzalez, and others the past few years.
  12. The truth of the matter is that ALL of those rankings change almost weekly, certainly every month, during the season. Its not a static assessment. I do not view the Red Sox farm system as "Good" right now, partly because of the talent level overall, and partly because there simply aren't enough high quality pitchers to help us in the most needy area for the team. We are going to have to buy our pitchers for the foreseeable future, and thats very expensive.
  13. But the Bleacher Report is unreliable, right? Thrilled to see that we are at the 10th position rather than the 11th position. Not so thrilled that our hitting prospects have more potential than our pitching prospects because pitching is our major weakness right now; our hitting is decent. Maybe we could trade some of those hitters for a good SP.
  14. Top third of 30 teams: ranked 1-10; middle of the pack: 11-20; bottom of the pack: 21-30. Pretty simple. The REASON the Rays and Jays are ahead of us is that they have had better draft positions for years, but that doesn't change the fact that they ARE ahead of us. With all that minor league depth, the Blue Jays will be giving us a run for our money soon too.
