  1. I would call it a PROBABILITY, not a possibility. Unfortunately that leaves us with a flaccid offense. But maybe you are right-maybe the two roster spots will be filled with players of significance. I have not given up on the ability of Casas to contribute this year either. Its something that isn't talked about here much but I think his career OPS is around .800. If he can get and stay healthy......
  2. And Henry pockets the difference?
  3. They signed Contreras, Suarez, and Gray (as a lower tier SP, not a #2). I am fine with those moves. If they are done signing talent then I am not happy either. I doubt very much we will get Paredes or anyone like him. I suspect that we will get someone worse followed by another litany of excuses.
  4. Exactly! They show a lot of "interest" in good players but rarely sign anyone of consequence. The "more pop in the lineup" simply isn't going to be addressed, at least in the manner that would make us compete for a ring this year. Half assed job at addressing the needs of the team, as usual. Disgusting franchise. LIARS!
  5. Devers was a selfish "me first" schmuck. If he was told to play 1B then he should have done his best to obey that order. That was his job, to place the team above personal desires. Its what he was paid to do. I don't miss him at all.
  6. We aren't even getting Donovan. Too much for Henry to pay for. Think someone of the caliber of David Hamilton.
  7. That’s what it looks like to me based on the current lineup or by adding another irrelevant player.
  8. I didn’t say EVERYTHING he has done is bad. It’s not. But he isn’t good enough at his job, overall. I don’t think he’s done yet either. He’ll add someone else who is relatively insignificant in terms of making us a contender for a ring. Last year I was satisfied with the improvement-we made the playoffs. This year I want more than an early exit. fWAR is a guess for 2026. I want results judged by WINS, not calculations.
  9. He’s not good enough to have made this franchise competitive for a ring. Look, for example, at what he has NOT done this offseason. Maybe I expect more from the GM. Too many failures; too many lapses in communication and judgment. If they aren’t serious competitors for a ring this year he should be fired.
  10. I’m not “arguing with “ anyone, especially you since we are in agreement that a higher percentage of revenue should be spent on high quality players that can make this team competitive NOW. Henry has the resources. He’s pocketing too much of the revenue to support his lie that his priority is winning. The other half of this is that Breslow is incompetent at just about everything besides making excuses. He’s a master at that.
  11. Why shouldn’t the fans expect more from an owner who supposedly is committed to winning? Hey-if Henry is more committed to fattening his wallet than winning he should at least he should be honest about it.
  12. I don’t see what we are discussing here-the percentage of revenue spent on player salaries by team. Maybe I missed it. Is it in your link? Or are you trying to change the subject to excuse Henry’s cheapskate behavior….?
  13. The only information I have is for 2025 during which we were 23rd well behind such powerhouses as the A's and the Royals. Henry sucks as an owner.
  14. And my point is that when you rank 23rd (or near that) in percentage of revenue spent on player salaries you SHOULD be spending more if you prioritize winning. Obviously Henry doesn't see it that way. He prioritizes profit, money in his voluminous wallet, over winning. Maybe he wanted to win years ago. Its clear that he wants to maximize profit now. Hey-its his team. He can do with it what he wants. But it does a disservice to the loyal fans of the team. We will never win another ring as long as cheapskate Henry owns the team.
  15. They were better last year than the previous few years. We squeaked into a playoff spot and were promptly eliminated. This year I expected more; its seems I will not get it. Many of the pieces are in place to compete for a ring-we have a solid rotation and a stud in Anthony. But we lost Bregman and gave away Devers (a necessity) and Contreras is not going to compensate for those losses. We will be WORSE offensively, not better. Breslow is wasting a window of opportunity to compete for a ring because he is constrained by Henry's cheapskate limits and because he isn't very good at what he does-other than making excuses. I can't see us finishing better than 3rd in the ALE, likely worse. Its getting old.
  16. I don't see fortifying the starting rotation and improving the offense as mutually exclusive. A lot of money came off the books when Devers and others left and the fact is that the FLOPS are still LOWER THIRD in percentage of revenue taken in spent on player salaries. Henry is too cheap to give Breslow the green light to improve that flaw and the result is team that likely will not compete for a ring this year. Again.
  17. We have a very good starting pitching staff. But Breslow has dropped the ball when it comes to offense, probably because Henry told him not to spend enough to make the team competitive. Time is getting late. Spring training is going to start in a few weeks and the team has not sufficiently improved.
  18. I have to admit that with all due respect to Harmony I really don't give a rats ass what the Mariners are projected to do this year. I am more concerned with the improved ALE and our pedestrian offense. Its Feb 1 tomorrow and the FLOPS still have not addressed the gaping holes in our lineup. I think they might get another product out of the dumpster but basically no one of signifcance-and really, they need TWO good bats to compete for a ring. Henry should have paid Schwarber or Alonso-or at LEAST Bregman plus one other good player. We are left with dregs. Again.
  19. Contreras is going to help, no doubt. He and Suarez are going to make the team better, but at this point the losses are at least as great as the additions. At the end of the day you MUST be able to score runs to win games.
  20. I was not familiar with Luke Keaschall so I looked him up. He would be perfect but would likely cost an arm and a leg in a trade. OPS+=128. Its not happening......but yes, he would be perfect.
  21. I think that would give us a chance. Anthony really has no protection at all. He is our only consistent threat. Its possible that Abreu or Casas might have a resurgence, but what really had to happen was us getting Schwarber or Alonso. Thats history now. I doubt we will get EITHER Suarez OR Paredes. They'll find another mediocre player followed by another litany of excuses.
  22. As I also said, I have no doubt that we will get SOMEONE to play in the IF, just not someone of sufficient quality to turn us into a contender. We will likely get a rehab project or another dumpster product. By "someone" I meant "someone of significance". I don't count getting bums with "potential" as "someone". You tried to get me to sign on to a sucker bet and were shocked when you discovered that I am not a sucker who felt obliged to adhere to the terms of a wager that YOU set up. So I set up my own wager. You backed out. We need more than Paredes or Suarez. I could live with either one as long as we improve the offense by signing another very good bat. We are WASTING a window the team has. Got the rotation set and a stud OF. Now fill in the rest of the roster.
  23. That pretty much nails it. Our competition in the ALE is much better and we are probably treading water-deeper pitching, almost certainly an anemic offense. Another long season is on the horizon.
  24. I’m happy you are comfortable with your misguided thinking that I was wrong. Did you really think I would fall for a sucker bet?
