The line between a “good” hitter and a “great” hitter is subjective. I don’t think he’s a great hitter either. I think there are only a handful of great hitters in baseball.

I am not impressed with the Sox medical staff over the years. Cora apparently said it’s a matter of pain tolerance, that he has an injury that isn’t likely to get worse. But you could be right.

I’ve seen him wince. But there’s no proof he’s injured.

Let me put it this way: if he does have a shoulder injury he shouldn’t be playing. Devers is a good hitter. He hasn’t been playing well for a long time, and that’s consistent with being injured.
