  1. And at the price starting pitchers are getting paid these days that could put the Yankees in a place where they have to overpay big time and force them to not have the flexibility to acquire another bat. And also what are they gonna do about the left side of their infield. Arod up in the air will he play or not and will Jeter be healthy. So they have more problems and needs than most of the media sources are talking about.
  2. I agree. The lose of Cano is a big blow but i think they may be able to over come that lose if they can keep the rest of the team healthy and add another bat. But one thing i dont think they can overcome is the lack of starting pitching. I could see them getting in on Garza. CC and Kuroda just aint gonna cut it in the AL East by themselves.
  3. Ive been busy, its cattle moving season and we have been shipping a lot of cattle and will be over the next few weeks. But mark I think 5 is the magic # that the League Office will approve. And as far as a PTBNL they always have that in most trades these days just thought id throw one in there. I think Kemp is more in play for the Sox than Stanton is tho. And if healthy i dont think we could go wrong with either of them. Im just happy to see Cano gone from the Yankees and the media trying to figure out what they will do now that hes gone.
  4. If it would be just prospects that the Sox could send it may be The Sox FO say just take any 5 players you want but not Henry Owens and Garin Ceccihi. Barnes, Ranuado, Betts, Swihart, and RDLR to the Marlins for Stanton + PTBNL to the Sox If thats what could land Stanton id hope they would do it. They have the prospects to land him its just a matter if the Marlins move him this winter.
  5. I wonder what the offer is that Napoli has? I hope if it is for 4yrs the Sox match it. I think if it was 3yrs it wouldnt be a hard thought, but if its 4yrs Ben might let Nap walk. Which i hope is not the case.
  6. Agreed. I would like to see the FO make that move. Im not a big supporter of a 13million per to be a spot starter of long relief guy when we have Workman right there.
  7. I hope he gets traded. And also i hope the training staff gets Doubrant's ass in shape for this up coming year and he finally because the player the FO thought him to be. They need to get him the same trainer as Lackey had last year.
  8. Mariners are said to be the front runners now for Cano. Hahaha i love it. I hope he goes there. The Yankees will have a big void to fill now if he does sign there.
  9. I just read that too. Needless to say that the Sox are in a good place right now. But i still think that Nap is the biggest need. Im really not understanding the whole resigning Drew. I think they can keep WMB, Boggy, Peddy, Nap, and Drew all playing time but it it seems like a resign of Drew would make a log jam. What if they do resign both Drew and Nap and move WMB to LF. Giving i dont see that happening but im just wondering as a what if. WMB could be the power bat if James' projections of 32 hr for this year is correct and if he could play good defense out there against the Monster. Johnny Gomes played there i would see why it would be a far stretch to think WMB couldnt. What do you think User?
  10. Ive been reading a lot of the previous posts from early today and i think that the Sox many very well be cooling in the pursuit of Napoli as i hate to say that. I hope they are not. But lets say they sign Napoli and trade for Kemp and send Dempster to the Dodgers with two prospects maybe Carp is traded and only one prospect. Ok they sign Nap at 3 years and a club option for a 4th and have Kemp in the OF to man CF or LF and later on in his career give him a 1B glove and tell him hey see what you can do, if it dont work we have a power hitting DH. All and all i would like the move if they made it with the Dodgers seems like a win for both teams.
  11. I like the way you think. Im cheering the Mariners on to sign Cano. Just as long as he goes somewhere other than the yankees i will be happy. Ells at 150million 9-10 hr and 50-55rbi per year or Cano at 250million 30-35hr and 95-100rbi, i think we all would agree our advantage would be Cano going to the Mariners and the Yankees with their high payroll and no pitching so stupid on their part. As in football defense wins championships, pitching in baseball wins championships and when all they have is a fat guy who gets hit hard by the Sox all the time the future dont look good for them. I can see them as the Angels of the East this year.
  12. Thank You User for being the typical dick you are in all ofa your replies, i appreciate it like always. I was not trying to say that the Sox were frugal with their money. I was saying that a lot of posters on here act like the FO needs to be frugal with their money like the money was coming out of their back pocket. I understand totally about making good decisions regarding the use of the assets we have and that the FO will field the best team possible, and we are all still excited about the teams 2013 championship and none of us need to lose sight of that. But still we have seen two of our FAs leave and two more left out in free agency so im saying we need to address areas on need and if it is an overpay than so be it. All im saying is that we need to sign Napoli and not Corey Hart to play 1B. And then go out and get another bat that plays OF to make this lineup as dangerous as last years and if they have to overpay then spend spend spend if it makes us a better team. I hope to see in my lifetime the Sox to go on a run of championships and eventually surpass the MFY in titles. We are only a couple of pieces away from really contending again. So i say spend Ben spend the $ on players soon to field on a repeat title team.
  13. What is Grandy asking? If he would want a 4yr/60million id hope the Sox would jump all over it. And also napoli is just a must
  14. Grandy would be a nice option but i thought he was a shoe in to go to the Mets. So that why i havent listed him as a target for the Sox. Grandy in CF would be a nice piece if the other big bats cant be traded for.
  15. I honestly dont understand why people are seeming to be so frugal with the Sox' money and say no we need to let the youth carry us. Just because Theo made bad signings with Crawford and Agon doesnt mean we should all look at every signing as an overpay or a bad deal. I think we all thought Ells would be gone but just not to the MFYankees but it is what it is so instead of saying lets just hold the course and be frugal with the money which many seem like it is coming from their own back pocket, why not make another run this year and depending on a rookie to carry us to the promise land is a lil too much of a risk for me. I think the Sox have to make a move on Napoli and soon, not saying they aint im just saying id like to hear a deal nearing to feel more comfortable. Also i think even after Nap is signed we are still down from last year as far as the explosive line up that can decimate any rotation in the league. With Nap in the fold we will have a good line up but not as dangerous line up like last year. I still say a trade is on the horizon or maybe a signing for an impact bat to slot in the lineup in front of Ortiz and behind Peddy. A trade for Kemp, Bautista, or Stanton, or a singing of Choo or Beltran will likely put the Sox back into that dangerous category. Im a constant supporter to let the young'ns play but im not sure that JBJ is ready for that role and pressure cooker of Boston. If he has a bad 1st month all that will be said is they made a bad move and shoulda signed Ells back. I think allowing his to spend the 1st half in AAA and then bringing him up at the deadline would be the best idea, but if the slot him into CF and have a big bat in LF beside him the FO can say hey we wasnt gonna overpay for Ells because we wanted a big bat to play LF. We will miss Ells 50 sb per year but one dont need to steal that many when the guys behind you are knocking the ball out of the park. I like Kemp the most of all the players i mentioned. If healthy he is the biggest impact for next years team. So lets hope Ben makes a move on Nap soon and then addresses another need with a big bat.
  16. Well said. I hope Ben makes a move on Kemp and Napoli soon.
  17. I think that Big Ben makes a trade for a big bat and also resigns Napoli. Stanton, Bautista, or Kemp one will be on the Red Sox before the end of the Winter Meetings. Not sure that Beltran is big enough bat for the price and a lil too old to put into the 3rd spot in the lineup. The offseason is still early. IN BEN WE TRUST!
  18. Im honestly shocked about the Ellsbury signing with the Yankees. I thank him for his time here and glad the guy got paid, but that being said i hope he has a horrible rest of his career with the Yankees f*** him and f*** the Yankees!!!
  19. Ok. Thank you. Now what do you think the next move is? I think the Sox dump one pitcher now via trade for some young arms. Make a run for Ells and resign Napoli. Move Workman into the rotation and Dempster into the bullpen/spot starting roll. Peavy is probably the odd man to move clearing payroll and if Ells moves on they make a deal with LA if they believe Kemp will be ready in 2014 with LA eating a small part of Kemp's contract. Say wow Ben great moves and call it a nice offseason and look to contend for another title in 2014.
  20. With A.J. signed and the non-tenders off thei books what do the Sox have to spend before they reach the cap?
  21. Yes it will be interesting to see what he gets. I think the FO made their offer to Salty and he either priced himself out of here or waited too long. Id say he priced himself out of here in my opinion. As far as A.J. goes i hope he stays healthy as well as Ross might me a better platoon than Salty/Ross. Also as something to mention both AJ and Ross are only signed thru 2014 to lead the way for the youth. If its a 1 yr 6M or up to 8.5 deal id be ok with that. I thought A.J. wouldnt be a good clubhouse guy but i seen where he won that award for sportsmanship last year so this may be a win win.
  22. Ive seen it is a 1 yr deal, anyone know how much it is?
  23. I honestly thought they would of brought Salty back. But i didnt see this coming. A 37 year old catcher worries me a little when the backup will be David Ross at his age. The young guys will probably get a lot of work this year. But a one year deal makes sense for him so its a wait and see.
  24. Agreed. Im not a fan of Fowler. Not a lot of news floating around about Ells. I know that Boras is notorious for letting/making his clients wait till late in the offseason to sign, but all the reports that have said that teams are in on him are not that often so maybe he could come back here. But if not, i hope a trade for a big bat is what Cherries does.
  25. Im a big fan of Salty but if the Sox could pull off a deal to bring him in at C for 2014 and resign Nap to play 1B then i would be ok to deal 2 top 100 prospects. Nap could move to DH in a couple of years and Santana could move to 1B. I think its crazy how some on here believe Mike Carp could be our starting 1B next year. Its ridiculous the only team that he needs to be the full time 1B for is the Astros or Marlins after that let him be was he is, just a good bench player.
