  1. I really hope so since I had tickets to this and had my whole weekend shuffled around for it. They always try their best not to do double headers now though, so it's looking like June 17th would probably be the date. Oh well I guess.
  2. And there's the delay.
  3. Dempster got them swinging at some real crap that inning. Really wish he could get deeper into the games though.....through the 5th with 90 something pitches. Going to end up with 3 guys who go into the 5th and probably no more 3 nights in a row now.
  4. Mortensen is definitely capable of taking on some innings for them if need be.
  5. Ended up looking pretty good against Flaherty and Reimold. He needs to pitch like that to the guys that matter though.
  6. He's gotta start getting those pitches down. And not middle in on a lefty.
  7. He just put that one in a really bad spot. Gotta get that down or off the plate.
  8. Seems like if they can keep being patient like this he'll be done pretty quick.
  9. That's why you don't dive for balls that are moving like that. No need to be a hero in the third inning.
  10. A bit. Well, at the very least, he certainly looks more confident (trying to pick the right word here, I dunno). No complaints so far, which means he's done better longer than I thought he would.
  11. Drew also got a good piece of the pitch he swung at too. Good stuff so far though, Dempster has looked a lot better than he did in the Yankees game. Hopefully that can keep up through the rest of this.
  12. I'm also a little concerned. He's gotta keep the ball down and locate this time around, not too excited to see what may happen to him on Fenway on a bad day. None the less, I still think we have a decent shot. Drew certainly does make this lineup seem deeper. Hopefully we get some good stuff from him. This lineup has a lot of different ways of winning, and that's always pretty excited. Should be a fun one to watch.
  13. Agreed. If they continue to pitch like that there shouldn't be a big problem. Would love to see some more innings out of Doubront really, and I'm certainly hoping that that is something that begins to happen this year. Other than that and the uncertainty of Lackey at the moment (though that seems to be looking positive) not a whole lot to talk about rotation wise at the moment personally. Wish we had more young depth to be talking about, or more depth in general for the Lackey situation. Guess at the moment we just have to hope that pans out well.
  14. That's going to be too bad. Really hoping it won't be Friday like someone else said, I'd rather not be there for that. As for Harang, he'd have to be really cheap. I agree that the guys in AA probably aren't ready to go, but I don't know how much better an option Harang ends up being. That ERA likely goes way up in the AL East with its small ballparks and all. Not sure how Jurrjens or Marcum did/are doing, but now it's really looking like they should have been considered.
  15. Again. I think that has to be the biggest liability for this team.
  16. Hoping for a good game today. Should be interesting to see what the pitching can do against the O's. I think I read somewhere that this one was sold out btw, not sure though. Anyone headed out to any of the games this weekend? I'm going Friday, scored some right field bleacher seats for $4 thanks to some Ace Tickets rewards.
  17. Boras is kind of looking a bit silly this offseason. He got Bourn screwed with a contract less than Swisher's while bragging about being able to get him a lot more. Lohse still doesn't even have a team. It's nice to see teams maybe stepping up a little and not paying more than they value a guy at.
  18. Every game I've heard about on MLBN thus far has involved me waking up at some ungodly hour or by the time I'm already out the door for the day. I sort of agree that it's a silly tournament....there's really no good way to do a thing like this with the way baseball schedules work. Long season, short off season, spring training, long season again. No particularly good way to cram something like this into the schedule where we could actually plan on getting top players to participate. None the less, I'm going to begin watching this weekend as I have all next week off and should be able to catch games whenever. It's still baseball, so I'll still watch I guess.
  19. Mmm, I'd think that they're likely trying to get guys that will be playing in the WBC some playing time with their MLB teams as well. I'm not going to really complain though, with the crappy weather it's nice to have something to do when they do televise the games.
  20. Agreed. I think if Lavarnway starts making some good contact and can show a little pop in his bat he may force them to do something. It's really too bad Napoli won't be catching at all, it seems like the more factors (people) we could put into the equation the better a chance that we'd see Salty moved.
  21. From what I've seen of Cervelli, he definitely had the tools to be somewhat decent (in 2010 was it?). Not really sure what happened from there, but it'll be interesting to see what he does with this opportunity. Granderson going down is really interesting. The Yankees are in for a tough stretch at least for a little while, and now they really need to hope that everyone else holds up. Those hit by pitch arm injuries always make me cringe too.
  22. Well put. I've always enjoyed a good defensive catcher more than pure offense, but Salty doesn't give enough defense or offense to justify his time here anymore to me. Watching him in Spring Training Saturday was interesting because from what I saw nothing had really changed. As Jung said, he is what he is. I honestly wonder if he has hit the point in his career where this is all we'll see from him too. If that is the case (and it certainly seems like it is) they'd probably be better to move him sooner rather than later.
  23. While I have a tough time thinking him blowing up at Valentine is a bad thing, I do think what he did this past week is. There's no reason to act like that toward Farrell. If anything, it shows he has a tough time getting over things.
  24. Really sick of Aceves and this kind of crap. No one wants to hear about a grown adult acting like a child. It's great he wants to be a starter and all, but clearly the team doesn't want to play that game this year. Maybe they should have just tried from the start last year, but too late for that now. I dunno, it's like they told everyone there was a chance to compete for the starter roll last year and he never got that out of his head.
  25. Caught both episodes so far and it's been kind of funny. Way over dramatic "oh no what if I go home" sort of deal. Cool to see everyone out there trying to throw a knuckleball and do the challenges and stuff. Second episode they had Salty trying to teach how to catch a knuckleball. I've been enjoying it in a silly kind of way and I'll probably continue to watch the rest of it.
