I completely agree. It seems like pitching is something we always forget about with this team, but it has one us the most. I don't necessarily think this is the opinion of the front office anymore, but certainly a lot of fans only notice hitting hitting hitting. While I'd like to see a bat or two added, it's a much bigger deal if they add quality arms.
Agreed. I think at least for the short term he helps solve outfield problems for NY. At this very moment, it seems like the Red Sox would benefit from having some corner outfielders with pop in their bat.
It sort of seems like Anthopoulos wanted to go somewhere familiar with a manager rather than really test the waters. This seems like one of those ones where if it tanks everyone will say they saw it coming, and if it works out they'll be talking about how smart Anthopoulos is. Either way, it's going to be interesting to watch.
Hey everyone, just signed up for the site today. Basically, got sick of banter back and fourth on Red Sox news site and looked for a website that hopefully has some more thought and friendliness. Anyway, excited to be here, and go Sox!
Even if he does start drawing decent value on the trade market, would you really want to let him go? He's one of the more solid pitchers in the game when he's good and it's not like they come around that often. Maybe he isn't quite good enough to be your 1 in the AL East, but if he slots in at 2 all of a sudden he's looking really good.
