  1. I like your sarcasm and sense of humor. Unfortunately, the medical staff's failures have played a part in this team's failures the past few seasons along with poor performance, poor decision making, and the rest of the issues we could spend hours discussing.
  2. I'd be for it if the price is reasonable. It's not worth betting a large number of plus prospects on a guy who has had the significant health issues he has had. Especially with the apparent problems with our team's medical staff, how would you feel if we got rid of a future #2 or #3 starter or 2 for a guy who can't stay healthy?
  3. Keep Ells out of Beltre's way on any plays in 3B vicinity.
  4. That was right before the series at home against Oakland when the hurricane came... Probably the last time this team looked like a legitimate contender.
  5. And then sometimes it works out when a hard hit ball turns into a double play. Not a regular occurrence for this team lately so that was nice.
  6. Keep hitting the ball on the nose and we will score some runs tonight. Need a good performance from Doubront tonight.
  7. Been out of town the last few weeks but wanted to bump this with the decisive series coming up this week with the Rangers and Yankees. Today's reports had the Red Sox rumored to be in talks with the Marlins centered around pitchers Josh Johnson and Anibel Sanchez. Just heard Sanchez is heading to Detroit so that takes one possibility out. Obviously, their play over the next 6 games will be a great barometer of their ability to compete this season. The glaring need, both this year and going forward, is pitching. Would it be worth it long term to deal away prospects for a 1 or 2 year pre free agency fix in the rotation given the current state of the rotation?
  8. LET'S GO SOX! If there was ever a time in the season for this team to show up and begin playing to their potential, it is the next 6 games. For better or worse, this stretch will be the turning point of the season.
  9. No matter how this season ends, this organization will have a serious mess to clean up. A good place to start would be to stop trying to be the New York Yankees Lite by fixing the problem with an expensive band aid type of free agent. Despite the names that could be out there, this organization has been consistent with finding the biggest bust/worst fit for the team. Given their track record, they should avoid the upper free agent market like the plague.
  10. If this organization did not have the massive revenue streams they have at their disposal, they would be forced to be more efficient and cognisant with the makeup of their roster. Perhaps, this might actually force them to avoid making the huge mistakes they have made recently. Take the Tampa Bay Rays for instance. I guarantee you that every ounce of the energy in that front office is focused on the most efficient way of putting a winning team on the field. Why? Because they have no safety stock for the judgment errors this organization has made in recent years. Even if the Rays had something similar to a 100 Years of Fenway type of event to celebrate, it would mean next to nothing to most fans if the team was terrible to watch and an embarrassment off the field. It truly is amazing what consistent winning will do for a baseball team. Sadly, this organization knew what that feeling was like in the not so distant past.
  11. This is the type of attitude many fans rightfully will begin to express if this team continues to falter. I love how you mention the brand and ownership's responsibility as stewards to protect it. They have taken the desire to grow the brand to the forefront of their focus and put fielding a winning team in the backseat. When will they realize that all of their economic escapades are soley dependent on fielding a winning team? Somewhere along the line, they lost track of that idea and decided that the equity they had built into the Red Sox brand over the years (winning 2 WS, renovating Fenway, 100 years, etc) would keep the fan base in good spirits if the product on the field was subpar. There is nothing wrong with promoting these ancillary causes when they are in ADDITION to placing a winning team on the field. This does not even account for the awful off the field issues that continue to consume and follow this team from last year.
  12. Embarrassing weekend for the Red Sox. Haven't played any games yet in New York. If this team is going to have any chance of doing anything this year, they will have to step up big and win these types of series. Perhaps the tough schedule in the 2nd half will play in their favor as they have the opportunity to make up ground themselves as opposed to hoping some other team does it for them.
  13. If this group had any sense of commitment to themselves as a team, they would be a top 5 ML team capable of deep playoff runs each year. It's silly to me that they can't recognize that and put their petty issues aside.
  14. Trust me, I live within 30 miles of Rangers Ballpark and no rain in sight. Actually have the Rangers game on with FOX
  15. For better or worse, the Sox/Yankees game is blacked out in TX. Luckily, I've got a full fridge of beer that should last the rest of this series the way things are going.
  16. It is sad that it has gotten to the point where some fans are actually rooting against the team because they truely believe the ignorant fools who run this organization will not do anything to change unless they really tank the rest of the year. Everyone from fans to various media to other teams fans can see that this current group cannot get it done. EVERYONE but this front office. They have to take off their rose colored glasses and truly accept that they put together an underachieving squad. Couldn't find the post from earlier but someone mentioned being a lifelong Sox fan who lived through many frustrating losing seasons but was never embarrassed to be a fan of the organization until this year. This has become embarrassing on so many levels and is a shame to let happen to any fan base, let alone a fan base as loyal as the fans of this team.
  17. Honestly, I don't think its expecting too much for this organization to consistently win. With the resources they have available, they should be able to at least contend for a playoff spot each year and see where that leads them. Now, they are working on a 3rd straight year without a playoff appearance and are causing even the most die hard of fans to lose competitive interest due to the way they go about losing. They simply aren't easy to watch lately.
  18. Change in many aspects of this organization has been discussed throughout the forum and game threads. Whatever your beliefs are about this year's team and outcome, I think we can all agree that some degree of change is needed for this organization to regain the image it had in the not so distant past. It has become blatantly obvious to some, and gradually more revealing to others, that this organization has lost its way over the last few years. The litany of issues on the baseball side seem to mirror the business side of the organization as well. What was once a feared and well respected organization that knew how to execute their unique strengths now appears to be an arrogant and clueless group collectively. As committed fans of the Sox, what would you say has to change to get this organization as a whole back on the right track?
  19. They should meet all of the fans leaving and personally apologize to each of them for their failure to field a competitive team.
  20. This is how I feel exactly. They were extatic over getting that foul ball earlier in the game and as a fan I'm sitting there thinking "Really? You all are the owners of the flipping team! Act like it!" They might as well hold up a poster and ask Jerry Remy to buy them all hot dogs while they are at it.
  21. I have to agree with you on this. This whole thing is just frustrating and has gone on for too long now. As dedicated, committed fans we deserve better than this. And the sad part is that I feel the FO and ownership do not have a firm grasp of how frustrated the committed fans are with this. It's been nearly 3 years without a playoff appearance for an organization and a fan base that EXPECTS to win. The commitment is both financial and personal on varying levels with the fans. Perception off the field shows a lot and this organization has absolutely failed in that aspect in recent times to add to the misery on the field. And that perception comes off as non-committed, unaware, and unaffected by whatever happens.
  22. Win or lose this year, change must be made. This may be a more talented group than what we've seen, but they have shown us more times than not that they are incapable of living up to the full potential of that talent level.
