    I don't think any of us have been expecting much, frankly. The biggest move we've seen from Chaim the past two deadlines was the trade for the injured Schwarber, which worked out great, but the fact that was the biggest move says a lot.

    The Vaz trade was fine. I can't get excited about the Diekman-McGuire trade. I don't like McGuire and the cash saved either went to yacht upgrades or new earrings for Linda.

    The big and obvious question is, can we really deem Bloom's work for 2023 a success if the team misses the playoffs?

    Don't you think re-signing Kike has to be included in his moves for 2023 even though it was done a little early? It had a significant impact on the payroll.

    The peculiar thing is that in 2022 he hit .909 with RISP and .889 with men on base. This year's numbers are much weaker at .705 and .747, though still not drastically below his overall numbers.

    Trading Verdugo is looking likely. Getting back a controlled starting pitcher is the questionable part. Presumably they'd have to throw in a good prospect or two for that return...

    Can't you just see Chaim and the spreadsheet guys conferring in the boardroom right now? "Hmmm, those 2 losses to the Giants pushed our chances of making the playoffs back under 40%...we all agreed that if we were under 40% on July 31, we're in Sell Mode..."

    As another poster mentioned, the only deadline trade rumors involving the Sox are about Paxton, Duvall and now Verdugo...
