  1. Yes, he's a troll but he's so stupid that he provides some amusement. When he started posting more recently, I did have to put him on ignore just to cut down on the nonsense entering my cranium.
  2. I have been so impressed watching Turner lately. The term professional hitter gets overused, but I think he really is one. I think he's just as happy fisting one into right for a bloop single as hitting one out. Take what the pitcher gives ya. I think he's actually underrated looking at his numbers with the Dodgers. An OPS+ of 133 is serious.
  3. Just have to agree to disagree.
  4. Yes, I remember. The mods here do a great job. They only ban posters who really earn it.
  5. He reminds me a lot of the poster who called himself Pumpsie Green in the old BDC days.
  6. You're excited about the Patriots?
  7. I think Duran had a misplay last night too...
  8. I actually haven't said a word about Kike. But Kike does play a good second base. With Chang at shortstop our defense is looking up. And Kike is starting to get a few hits. The team has a much better vibe right now, aside from the rotation injuries. Fenway has been rocking the last few games.
  9. Wade has always been somewhat of a schmuck. I'd buy Curtis Leskanic a beer before I'd buy one for Wade.
  10. Yeah, I'm sure you guys were really supportive of Duran when he was sucking. Good thing the team didn't give up on him.
  11. It's easy to be Johnny Obvious. Cora is trying to keep everyone involved because that pays off over the long run. It might have something to do with why this team has shown so much resilience.
  12. Remember when a lot of people wrote off Duran, like for good? Wasn't all that long ago, as I recall.
  13. And if he gets on a hot streak people will say the team showed good patience. We can never be wrong here in our armchairs.
  14. Turner had an .865 OPS and OPS+ of 133 in 9 years with the Dodgers. You might be selling him a little short. Story would help too of course. Notice how a few wins turns me back into a Bloom defender?
  15. They had discussions about Turner playing some second base, which would allow Duran, Duvall, Verdugo, Yoshida, Casas and Turner to all be in the lineup at the same time. But they decided against it.
  16. Turner and Yoshida have both shut me up. They've been great.
  17. About last night's lineup, Cora said they are trying to get Duvall AB's to get him back in the groove, and he said it's kind of a juggling act right now (or words to that effect).
  18. Oddly enough I think my best relationships with clients are with the rich ones.
  19. This year is probably the biggest free-for-all ever, though, what with the 3 Wild Card spots in each league and the overall parity that seems to be showing up in the records.
  20. Here was the reliever usage in those 3 extra inning losses: Apr 26 Sawamura Davis Brasier Robles Diekman Barnes May 4 Davis Strahm Robles Diekman Barnes May 7 Brasier Schreiber Strahm Robles Barnes So he was 6th guy, 5th guy, 5th guy. And not all the guys used before him were what you'd call elite. Sure looks like the real problem was...not winning the game in regulation innings, maybe?
  21. I think that's totally wrong about Barnes. It happened 3 times, and each time he was virtually the last available reliever. I'm surprised you think of this a big mistake by Cora.
  22. I have an even more cynical explanation - they keep more fans interested longer, they add more playoff games, ergo they generate a lot of dough.
  23. It's mainly a combo of 5 team divisions and randomness. Check out the NL East and NL West standings in 2005. This was the only time a team played .500 and finished last since 5 team divisions were established. https://www.baseball-reference.com/leagues/majors/2005-standings.shtml
  24. Unsustainable! (Well, usually, anyway...)
